I think it matters Melbourne should win the midfield battle easily which means a lack of supply for Roo and they will probably double team him

Think it comes down to how much pressure the Saints put on and hard to see them being highly motivated for the game with all the outs
I reckon the fact they're missing such big names is an extremely motivating factor. Proving they can win with a fairly inexperienced side (the youngest in the comp I believe) would be a massive confidence booster and show that the kids are alright and the future is bright (unintentional rhyming :P).

Bill Manspeaker

if they can't get motivated for round one then they shouldn't be playing AFL. they shouldn't be playing any sport

I'm a fellow melbourne supporter, so I'm allowed to say

Lol

I can't see us losing this. If we did, it would be a disaster, and contradict everything to what Roos and Jackson are saying about the club.

We MUST win this game, I reckon thousands of memberships are on the line  :-\

Considering how depleted the Saints are this round, the Dees should win. I think it'll be a ripper game.

No Montagna, Steven, Hayes, Gilbert or Schneider.

My stab at the Saints R1 line up...

FB: Dempster, Bruce, Roberton
HB: Webster, Fisher, Wright
C:  Geary, Armitage, Newnes
HF: Savage, Riewoldt, Maister
FF: Curren, Lee, Saunders
R: Hickey, Jones, Dunstan
IC:  Ray, Longer, Gwilt, Templeton

Others: Billings, Dunell, Ross,  Simpkin, Siposs, Stanley, TDL, Delaney

Mids without Dal Santo, Hayes, Montagna and Steven. Running with Armitage, Geary, Ray? and 1st gamer Dunstan instead...ouch.

Dees will win, meaning that at the end of round 1 GWS, Suns, and Dees will be in the top 8  :o

Add Fisher to the list of St.Kilda outs.
Back stiffness?
Might change my tip to Melbourne after all.
