Round 1 - Pies V Dockers March 14th

They've lost Shaw, Daisy, Williams, Johnson, Jolly and even Didak. And now are battling with injuries to Reid, White, Thomas, Seedsman. An inexperienced squad against a grand finalist from last year... it was always going to be messy I'm afraid

I think I heard Daisy, Jolly, Didak and Johnson only played like 10 games between them last year, not sure how accurate that is.

Anyway, kind of not surprised, especially without Reid or White. For some reason the Pies have recruited a lot of small people the last few years while a lot of other teams are going for well bigger people.

The numbers for Daisy, Johnson, Jolly and Didak for the past 2 seasons are:-

Thomas       5        17
Johnson      3         5
Jolly            9         17
Didak          4         9

So the 4 of them were not relevant last year in terms of games played and Johnson and Didak only registered 14 games between them in 2012  ;) ... so IOM offering them up as excuses is harping back too far

Reid White and Seedsman are big outs but unless their on field presence could have somehow improved the overall disposal efficiency of all of the Colliwobblers the result I believe would have been the same.

Lucky Collingwood were so much fitter than the Dockers as Bucks suggested or it would have been a real blow out  :)

Yes they didn't play a whole lot of games, but the likes of Frost, Elliot, Adams, Sinclair Clarke and Witts were completely outmatched and have very little combined game experience

Langdon was good at least attempting to replace Shaw, but no doubt he'll fade sooner or later. People have been calling Collingwood's fall for a while since last season ended now.

If anything I'd say the Dockers were twice as fit as the Pies. Could only stay with them for a quarter of football is a bad sign

Think the first quarter was close because Freo was playing average football like the Pies , once they got into there groove the Pies had no hope and the scary thing is that they are going to get a lot better , the players that Collingwood had out would not have changed the outcome maybe only the margin
