I think that's why he said it? Because if Longer is named, he will take ruck time and consequently points off of Hickey. So if he isn't named round 1, more ruck time = more points for Hickey.

If you're going to go with 2 mid-priced rucks, it has to be Sandi and Hickey IMO. If just the one, then Sandi by a mile.

he'll avg 80ish. MAX .
he'll go up to 410K-450K, a jump of only 120K-ish.

and you'll waste a valuable trade to upgrade him, im guessing you have sandi too, another upgrade there.
anotrher 1 or 2 trades for rookie rucks, 3 or 4  trades to get 2 premos in the ruck.

spend the money and get a premo/sandi combo. 1 trade only.

From a trade preservation point, this
Hickilands strategy can be neutral if the money saved gets an extra premium elsewhere.

Main reason I might look at it is Sandilocks may become a keeper and I really think
NicNat is worth waiting for and Goldy and Will will drop.

I had Mullet last year , spent lots and wrong choice.
So who knows really.
Picking Hickey who will be no1 ruck at the saints and spending the
savings on a premo lock elsewhere , could and can work imo.

It's an interesting predicament when you think of Nic Nat. If after the first 6 weeks Nic NAt eases into fitness, with a few potential sub games and low scores etc and drops to mid/high 400k, he will be a prime target to upgrade.

However, if you have a premo at R1 and Sandi R2, it will be tricky to get him:
R1. You don't want to trade premo for premo
R2. Sandi may not have reached his ceiling yet and have more coin to make

So if you wait a bit longer for Sandi to ripen, Nic Nat is likely to blast out some 120+ games and get right back up to mid/high 500's.

If you have Hickey/Hampson etc at R1, then they should have made you some money and can be a path to Nic Nat.

I currently have Leuey at R1 but are thinking...

I have gone down the Hampster route, it's more about weighing up my options rather than jumping on a ruck who may not be top 2 by season's end. This has got to be at the core of any decision, I want the best 2 rucks in my side by mid season.

Yea I'm thinking Hampson cause of Maric, more ruck time should hipefully mean more points as well as Richmond will win more games and have a softer draw than saints so more points to spread around.

people are kidding themselves if they think Sandi wont go down, is 31 and hasnt played a full season in 3 years so on that alone im out.
