First of all ... Craziness picking any eagles over Libba imo ...

But to answer the question

Scooter Selwood is clearly my pick of the bunch. Sure he might play defensive roles but he gets the ball as well in these situations which means his possessions are contested. He has gone 105 or thereabouts the last 2 years and I know he had a shoulder issue he played through for about 6 weeks last season which affected his scoring .. The other thing is we have a weak draw early on so let the bloke run free and own against these weaker sides :)

Priddis I feel will decline - just a feeling though

Shuey represents value at that price but has tagging issues as teams identify he represents the only real pace in the midfield that we have .. hopefully a few additions to the team improves this area and he doesn't cop as much attention

Hutchings could be a real gun in sc and i really really like him as a player ... but unfortunately I can not say at this stage if adam simpson thinks he is best 22 (for christ sake mate he should be)

Wellingham is a real low price and i really think he will have a big year for us ... his name has often tempted me this pre season but i think it is truly eagles bias and i would never pick him but i wont be surprised to see him score well and make 100-130k

We have a lot of handy midfielders but no superstars ... up the mighty eagles

Thanks EM, appreciate your thoughts very much. You didn't mention one, was that intentional or is he still developing. Very interested in Chris ATM.    :) ;)

Oh actually i must of deleted it haha

I honestly am not the greatest fan of masten ... his disposal and decision making can be quite poor at times ... I will say that he has improved in this area over the last 2 seasons which is to be expected ... I think there is some chance (and been reported in west aus paper at some point too sorry can not provide source) that he could very well play more forward than up the ground like he has in years gone by .. that may seem silly because he is an extremely good athlete but we have identified we lack one of those crumbing type forward and masto can actually do this ... hill although does some ground work does make lead ups and takes good marks .. lecras is somewhat similar ... cripps played that crumbing role the other night extremely well though which could mean that they have identified a player to fill that void  ... masto is indeed a ball magnet and will never be tagged ..

i will never pick him in a supercoach side that is for sure and certain but he could very well be a fantasy player though

Great stuff EM, that was what I was after. Thanks mate. I had Selwood in my very first draft and will restore him. Now  to figure out how to include Libba, and probably at Murphy's expense. Cheers mate.   :) ;)

I'll explain why I think Masten, but I'm sure LE and few other Eagles supporters can give you better info. Last year he averaged 97, but that's including a score of 22 when he twisted his ankle and got subbed. So taking that score out he averaged 101.17 from 18 games. The guy is a ball magnet, averaging 27.5 touches a game (still ignoring the subbed game), going 30+ on 8 occasions and dropping below 20 just 3 times.

He is insanely fit as well from what I can tell and can just run all day. After taking a few years to live up to his wrap of being a top draft pick (taken #3 in 2007) he has just gotten better and better the last few years and I expect that to continue again. I know NAB often means nothing, but look at the first game against Freo, he was on 83 points (DT) at half time before being rested for the majority of the second half.

So yeah, basically just think he is ready to go to the elite level this year :)

Need to get LE to come back and offer his detailed analysis ;)

So decided to keep Libba and now it comes down to Murphy  or  W.C.E mid out of Selwood, Priddis, Masten or Shuey. Any thoughts ??     :)

So at the moment the midfield looks like ( and I know I'm leaving out Murphy and Thomas ) this  :-

G Ablett,   T Liberatore,   T Cotchin,   C Masten,   D Beams,   D Tyson,   V Michie,   J Polec,   //  X Ellis,   L Dunstan.

Any thoughts ??

Haha, oh the pressure is on :P

On Masto, I can't see him spending a great deal of time forward. He was drafted as a midfielder and despite his knack around goals, he's an absolute magnet and is crucial to providing the run/outlet so we can actually get the ball forward. I'm not a massive fan of Hill, much prefer Cripps but time will tell what Simmo decides there. Regardless, I am pretty sure Masto will be able to average 25-30 touches and 2-3 goals a game! He's finally living up to his potential. With the rest of our midfield actually fit, he should never cop a tag and like every good acumulator, he loves a uncontested mark + kick ;)

Gotta, risk it for the biscuit imo. Keep Libba but go Masto over Murph!

Thanks very much for that elephants, have taken your advice. Now one last query whilst I can borrow your brain. Currently have Leuey and Sandi as R1 + R2, have the cash for any ruck to put at R1. Something nagging at me about having Leuey but I'm buggered if I know what it is, what's your pick for R.1 (cash no problem) ??

I'm going a little bit #yolo this season.

Hickey, Sandi (Hampson, King)

My thinking is I should be able to loophole through two 75-80+ scores each week from these three and by the byes, they should have all made at least 100k imo. All about value for me in the ruck depo. Don't have enough faith in any of the premiums barring Minson and Coxy but they cost big $$ :P

It's such a hard line this year that I'm very, very tempted to take either Cox or Minnow and downgrade them to someone who's going well after 2 rds if neccessary. Hopefully that would be Nicnat and be a keeper. By far the hardest position to finalise and the last I have to fix. Could close the book now on the rest of my team, after more than 2000 drafts. Cheers and the very best of luck people and many thanks for all of the assistance.    ;)

But couldn't you just downgrade Hampson to a rookie and Hickey to a premo and not have to worry about crappy scores from your rucks?
