It probably would've been due to the messages sent from Murray to the guy he punched.

As someone who's been on 3 juries in the last year (one extremely similar to the Murray case) I can say right now that it would've been those messages that nailed his coffin shut.

I think Marley got into a random scuffle which is looked at completely different by the general public/juries.
