Anyone know how Leuey went? Currently have him in my side...
Cheers Hawkers!
He had something like 28 hitouts IIRC, West had 21. Leuey killed it in the 2nd half after a quiet first half. Not sure how many possies he picked up

Ok thanks man, 21 hit-outs to West is slightly worrying. Although 28 isn't too bad for Leuey, as long as Leuey can continue to rack up the possessions around the ground, kick a goal or two with the added time spent up fwd and consistently hit 30 hit-outs, he should go 100+.
Yeah exactly, and I think he'll probably get more ruck time in the season proper

I'm not thinking it, I'm doing it. Plenty of rookies in the midfield who should do well, not so much in the other lines.

I'm also going 4 mid rookies starting..
GoLions and JackRoss, apart from the 5 (Tyson, Michie, Polec, Ellis, Dunstan) who is your 6th mid?
I'm going the same route and have Matt Crouch atm

I'm going with the same strategy and have Langdon for DPP as my 6th rookie.

Evening guys just back from the match so will give my assessment of a few observations. Bit different observing a game at Ground Level compared to the stands at the Gabba and also was behind one of the Goals so bear that in mind.

Was a very stop start affair as you could see from the stats in possessions.  There was also a strong wind blowing across the ground and favouring the Northern end and contributed to the inaccurate kicking.

Observations from the Lions perspective we are still one to 2 yards behind the pace of Sydney and this showed on a number of occasions.  We need to move the ball quickly like the Swans did on too many occasions after switching and taking a mark we were slow to move to the next forward option.

Both sides game plan was to try and corall in the forward quarter.  Must admit it seems strage seeing football played like that.  At one stage could have wheeled the BBQ out into the centre square had a BBQ and not have anyone within 10 metres of me.

Been reading through the thread and it would appear that  Kieran Jack also had a run with role on Rocky as well in the first half and they appeared to negate each other.

McVeigh should be a lock in SC now as the majority of the Swans forward forays started with him.
Laidler was impressive across half back and did some good things.
This is really a case for names on jerseys as no programme and not knowing swans numbers made it a little hard.  JPK was probably next best for Swans after McVeigh.

From Lions perspective Moloney had a very strong game and could be set for a bigger year than last year.
Rocky as I said was tightly marked but spent most of the final quarter forward as well.
The Berger West combination is working well - Berger spent most of the first half forward and this was reversed in the second half so may be something to factor in if considering Berger.
Zorko was a disappointment although he did some good things.
Justin Clarke had Buddy for the first half and kept him reasonably quiet. One of Buddys Goal was a mark only 2o metres out a buddy special which Clarke could do nothing about and the kick only just scraped in for a goal.

If Leppa wishes to continue this game plan he needs to ensure that he has cover with all defenders moving up and with the pacy Sydney forwards they out flank us.

Aish will be a star and would have cemented his poition in first round side.

Sorry for first post but accidentally posted before I finished.

Please feel free to ask any questions in the thread.

Vinny

Should we be worried guys about Rocky? What's the chance he gets tagged over Hanley now?
