If you want to compare Murph and Beams both are just under the 500k mark
Murph is 26 Beams is 23 - both should be in there best years

Murph last 5 season avg is - 92, 113, 118, 112 & 113

Beams last 3 season avg is - 102, 123 & 101 (only doing three years cause that's when he broke out)

Why isnt Murphy is more teams than Beams? and don't answer with this tag crap! last year he has a shocking run with injuries and will have the midfield load lightened with Daisy and blokes like Simpson coming back in to the midfield. senior blokes who will look after him.

I really do think everyone is over thinkng the whole no Murphy thing.
Should be in first 5 picked in my opinion.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhh let them not pick murph we will benefit.

hell go to at least a 105 avg if not 115

colmullet

yeah i had him locked for the longest time.....but the lack of back and forward rookies mean he was the one to get the chop out of the other 3 obvious midfield starters.....if some pop up round one though ill bring him back in

After coming back from injury Beams only had 2 scores under 96, with one of those being his first game back. Was obviously a super premium the year before averaging 123 and so it's safe to assume he can at least go 115+ if he remains uninjured. He'll also very rarely get the tag (if at all) as teams will almost always look to tag Pendlebury first.

While Murphy didn't always struggle with the tag, he did have a few shockers;
57 against the Saints tagged by Geary
73 against GWS tagged by Shiel
51 against Freo tagged by Crowley
69 against Sydney in the Semi-Final when tagged by Bird

I don't want someone capable of scoring that badly when tagged in my team, especially when he will (I assume) be their most likely mid to get the tag.

I just simply rate Beams over Murphy as a player

plus Mick hasn't finished fiddling with the team yet - he will try some things and switch things around until he finds the right balance

I wont be taking any Carlton players until I see how they are travelling

Rechecks current team - yes CAR = 0

I reckon Murph just had a bad year mentally in 2013
He'll be back in 2014

He said in a report that he struggled getting used to the captaincy and feels like he is really starting to settle in to the role and be more confident with it.

Dollar value wise he matches Cotchin. How's that for a debate starter?

RaisyDaisy

The reason we are picking Beams is because he should easily be a Top 10 mid, so you start him at his bargain price, and leave him all year barring an LTI

As for Murphy, I know he has the runs on the board, but I am just not confident he will be a Top10-15 mid, so if your going to have to upgrade him later in the year, you might as well start with Daisy and pocket the 150k

If you think he can get back to his previous best, then start him, if not, then dont

I don't have any Carlton players either, although K Simpson is in a tussle with Hodge ATM. Exceptionally worried about your $ value comment Doc. You haven't been self-subscribing again have you, starting to like the sound of your practice.   :'( :( :o :) ;)

Murphy is as good in SC as a whole group that I think includes the likes of Fyfe, Barlow, Jack, JPK, Scooter, Lids etc etc.

He had 4 years of ave between 112 and 118 prior to last year.

He is priced similar to Hayes, Armitage, Jackson!

This is why I'm not picking him. He isn't special. I have more confidence in Beams and Cotchin and faith that Rocky will improve. If I had an extra 200k I'd look at him but he's definitely not in my top 5 first picked players...

1) Ablett 2) Danger 3) Beams 4) Sandi 5) Rocky

At there prices, personally think there both locks to start the year. Both proven super premiums with averages of 115+ and there starting priced around players with averages of 95+
Too cheap not to start in my opinion.
