While I'm doubting Dangers I thought I'd throw this out there....... Is McVeigh worth the money? Has anybody else spent the money elsewhere? Can he match last year? I am seriously considering dropping him for Hanley and using the extra cash to either upgrade D5 to Yeo or use the money else where........ Doing this would leave my backline looking like: Mitchel, Hanley, swallow, suckers, Yeo, McDonald

He's a deadset lock for me, more than Hanley and Simpson.

Both Danger and McVeigh are very expensive and you will surely be able to pick them up for 30,40k cheaper by round 5 or so at least. However you shouldn't skimp on your premiums; not every player you pick needs to be a good investment/good value, some players you need to pick to get yourself some guaranteed points week in week out. I have tried teams without one of Danger and McVeigh and it makes my team feel too risky and inconsistent. I'll be forking out the cash for both.

but then you are relying on Hanley being as good as McVeigh and then making the right calls with the extra cash.
For me he is a set and forget defender for the season.

McVeigh is one of those players that I see as a lock in Defender, among others like Sam Mitchell. Too me you should always start with 1 and then trade the other 1 in later. So I guess its up to you to predict of who will drop the least and start with him.

Upgrade target for me.

Spent the whole preseason thinking there's no way I'd look at McVeigh with that price tag. Have cash left over and was looking at options... just have a quick glance at this.

Priced at an average of 97.8 (quite high!)

McVeigh's first 9 games (i.e. before the bye) and his scores against those respective teams last season:
GWS - 132, 77
Collingwood - 124, 108
Adelaide - 100
North - 120
Freo - 122 (finals), 95
Melbourne - 126
Brisbane - 98
Hawthorn - 92, 62
Essendon - 100

All but 4 of those 13 scores are above his priced average. The average of those scores is 104.3 which is 6.5 point HIGHER than his price suggests. The only one of those teams he averaged less than his price tag against last year was Hawthorn.

Basically, he's still very expensive, but it looks like he might not bottom out until well past the byes. If anything, he'll increase in price up until then. Strongly considering him in both RDT and AF now!

Mr.Craig

Yeah, I think you'd be pretty foolhardy to ignore him.

He's officially in my RDT but not in my free hit AF team (as I think there is better round 1 value). He'll probably make the cut for round 2 though.

Toga

Good stats LH!

At the moment he's in my free hit team and will stay there for Round 2.

Glort

They are great stats.......... And I also did more research and he wound up in my team..... *sigh*  :P
