Had my best season last year, finished in top 400, but been too busy this year with work etc (and catching Barra! ;D). Just started to throw a side together. Is it especially hard this year? Or maybe I think that every year. :P expensive rooks!
Anyway, here's my first draft. All comments and ratings appreciated, good, bad or otherwise.

DEF: McVeigh, Simpson, Swallow, Suckling, Griffiths, KK (McDonald, Fuller)

MIDS: GAJ, Pendles, Rocky, Beams(D), Daisy, Beams(C), Michie, Ellis(X) (Polec, Dunstan)

RUCKS: NicNat, Sandi (Brown, Nankurvis)

FWDS: Danger, Dusty, Buddy, Pav, Higgins, Rohan (Taylor. JKH)

Only four grand left in the kitty :(

DEF: Interesting POD in Griffiths- not so sure about his scoring potential but could make some cash before Maric returns- KK and Fuller unsighted in NAB challenge- may need to look at who is picked in round one for defense rookies. Rest is solid

MID: Strong here- C.Beams only 50/50 for round one

Ruck: Look at Thurlow and Derickx for r3/r4.

FWD: Strong on ground here- Taylor won't play round one.

Strong base to work with but similar to a lot of other teams here.

DEF not sold on mcveigh at that price, will drop and lose $$, suckers @ 4 is risky, like the griffiths pick but will he play enough games b4 Maric returns?? Fuller wont play. 6/10

MID strong M1-M4, daisy looked solid in his NAB, not sold on beams, but the rest of the rooks look solid. 8/10

RUC strong setup, tad iffy on NicNat, will he fire straight away or start slow and lose money?? 8/10

FWD strong F1-F4, get higgins out, he'll burn you again like he does everyone. 7/10

OVERALL 29/40. needs a bit of a tweaking but its looking ok.

Cheers for the replies. changed it around a bit now. I've decided to go weaker in the fwds and pick up Buddy, or whoever else is firing down the track. this leaves me $131, 200 in the bank to fix the other lines. Not sold on NicNat yet and maybe looking at Griffiths to Webster and maybe C Beams to Tyson? Brown in the rucks for the Captains loophole. Obviously KK and other rooks could change pending squads named.

Where should I spend my cash? Set and forget R1, or strengthen other lines. I'm a bit worried about how many mid pricers I've got, but there doesn't seem to be many other options this year. Maybe worth keeping the cash for the second half of the round and finalise my team then? Thoughts?

Why KK, out of interest? I've heard good things so far, but thought he didn't deliver that well in pre-season.
Surely you could pick another rookie and save 80k?

Yeah hes been in my side from the beginning, I just haven't bothered to change him out yet. Just waiting to see whos named next week. Soon as I work out where to spend my dough hes gone! ;D
