I think you have to say he has made a positive impact on the AFL. He negotiated new TV rights and player payment agreements which were huge successes for the AFL and the players. The expansion clubs have also started off pretty well. He did a lot of work as Operations Manager and AFLPA chief before becoming CEO as well.

His denial of Melbourne tanking is his worst moment. I don't know why he constantly denied it. It would be better to just admit there was a problem there. His handling of the ASADA case also wasn't the best, but as he said, he didn't inject the players himself, and there was hardly a precedent on how to handle such a situation.

I think the good he did for the game outweighs the bad by a long way. Gillon McLachlan just about a certainty to replace him?

Don't let the door hit you on the way out I say.

All. Have to say though is if Eddie becomes the new CEO I'm done with footy forever lol

Yes Dudge I am not from Vic either - AD was a good ambassador for the advancement of the game into the non AFL States and adding the 2 additional teams to create a local rivalry was also a smart move,

Whilst AD did some things which I did not agree with, over his 11 years you would have to say he was very good for the AFL. Fair enough his recent handling of the tanking and ASADA will be remembered more than his achievements when you assess his overall reign at the top it would be a favourable report.

Don't worry Quinny, Eddie has already said that he wants to stay at Collingwood and not be CEO of the AFL. Thank god for that.

Glad he is Gone. He has advanced the game but his time was up.
Would Brendon Gale be a sneaky chance as replacement?

Don't think he has anywhere enough experience - although I am not entirely across his qualifications, but generally previous CEO experience would be required, but Gil should be a lock

Law degree, Mallesons lawer and AFL PA CEO as far as i know. Seems to be running the Tigers smoothly too.
Maybe Brian Cook?, he has been great for Westcoast and Geelong and has been involved in the australian sports commission

I just hope the next guy puts the game first instead of money revenue.

Yeah, but at least COLA and all that stuff would get redistributed...

I mean, redistributed to collingwood of course, but, redistributed nonetheless.

Top of Eddies agenda would be to have collingwood play 22 friday night games at the MCG every season.

Why would Eddie take the job?

Collingwood run the AFL so it would be a demotion
