Is Luke McDonald a must have?

If there are enough DEF rookies named for round 1 then is McDonald a must have?

It's looking as though there should be any 3 out of Langford, Clurey, Cutler, Langdon or Georgiou that will play round 1 at this stage.

I know McDonald has looked good in NAB but I can't afford him without throwing out the balance of my team and I'm not a huge fan of paying a premium on a first year player anyway.

Thoughts?

has already played a season of VFL where he was one of the best players each week.
will be one of the best rookie picks this year <$200k

I agree with you that he's not a 100 lock.

But i think you have to allow room for him in the salary cap in case the other rookies don't play.

Have to start him - if anything we are paying a higher premium for his JS as it seems to be superior compared to all the other cheaper options

Add Clay Cameron from GC to the list priced at 123k - A real chance to line up rd1 and cement a spot in their backline

thought i would bump this again

With Langdon/Laidler/Clurey/Cameron all played this week and Georgiou/Langford/Martin looking likely this week is he still a lock for everyone. Langdon 111 Laidler 95 Langford/Martin better scoring in the NAB. Looks like the only pro left in his column is his JS over all of these options maybe?

Will be interesting to see if he gets a full game or not. I do have him for AF this week but if he is sub there's a good chance I will go with someone else i reckon.

If he wears green this week imma bench him and bring in someone to grab Langdon's score.

Fact is the kid is a gun and is essentially in his third year at the club.
