This year I have been seeing more and more pods in every team in fact I have seen players like Hibbered, Libba (who we are picking as pods), more than the hanley and watson's that are now pods because no one is picking them...

So in my opinion if we pick players like...
Enright, Simpson, Shaw, Hanley
Selwood, Watson, Swan, Cotchin
Rioli, Reiwaldt...
We have pods to 75%+ of people that will score better than the players they've picked because those players have a more consistent record.

Players who are pods but aren't.
Hurn, Hibbered
Fyfe, Rockliff, Liberatore
Leuenberger, Grundy
Parker, Zorko, Roughead

So basically I think we should picking the players who have always been the main guys over the so called "pods" because those "pods" are no longer pods whereas the main proven players are.
Love to hear your thoughts...!

Interesting theory willsy and will wait for others to comment as well based on you scoring intepratation.

My opinion on POD (Players of Difference) is that have player X is in 50% of teams but you chose Player Y over him and he is only in 5% or less of teams you have a POD.

I reckon you only need 1-2 POD for your team to do well enough

Doggoneit

I have been thinking similar willsy

A team with no POD's is itself a POD team !!!

What I meant was...

Liberatore and Watson I think are in similar amount of teams... From what I've seen Libba has been in more. We think Libba is a pod when really Watson is in less teams, no one thinks he is a pod when he actually is.
The only player everyone has is Dayne beams, Patrick Dangerfield..
Apart from that Everyone else is selected in around the same amount of teams.

I honestly don't belief that pods need to be selected until mid to late season unless your in it for the league.

The trick is your combination on field....vs your opponents combination.....the science is in the predictive selections against your next opponent....rd1 and 2 is just the pre dance...then the serious get about winning their rounds.....hate to mention tactics but thats what will be happening at the pointy end.... ;D :'(

Fair point tdog, as it is I want as many points and as much cash flow as I can get early. So pods can wait.

just dont forget its not the cash flow that wins each round...its points scored ..no point in a 3 round cash plan to maybe win a round in future..wont make the finals... ;D

Something I like to think about is SC 2 seasons ago.

Swan, Pendles and Beams were all very very common choices, however having a combination of all three of them was super unique (and genius too, I believe the winner had that combo) so some PODs aren't necessary but combination PODs are. Good Luck! :)

That's good for a league win but I'm interested in overall more. Cheers

Whatever, maybe it was 2011. Does it matter at all? Do you understand the point of what I was saying? If so, just say thanks and move on, why would anyone want to help you if you've just shot down the last two responses?

That happened to last years winner didn't it? Won overall but lost his league? It's certainly not impossible, it's the outcome of your season compared to the outcome of one game...
