Thinking about taking on one of these guys along with Daisy in the middle, Doggies have looked pretty good in the NAB (i know its only NAB) and in particular these 3 look like they could significantly up their output this year:

Mitch Wallis: Price (386K) NAB scores (110, 92), Looks like he may still get "tagging" jobs but doesnt look like hes going about it in a Crowley like manner where he concentrates 100% on stopping his opponent, big tackler but also gets his own ball and runs off.

Koby Stevens: Price (367.1K) NAB scores (118, 131), Big NAB from Koby who has always shown he had the talent but hasn't had to much opportunity till last year. Has the potential to really break out i think.

Jackson Macrae: Price (331.1K) NAB scores (106, 123), Another guy with an impressive NAB, last year was his first and unvested averaged ~80, big ask for a 2nd year kid but has shown nothing to suggest he can't live up to it.

Anyone interested?

None of these guys will get tagged as that will go to Boyd or Libba so safe there as well. Dogs have yhe benefit of the Round 9 bye as well if looking for balance in bye strategy. Macrea worth considering.

You're looking at a second year kid over Daisy..based on 2 good nab scores?

CrowsFan

Yeah I wouldn't be picking a second year player. It's far too risky.

If I had to take one of those 3 it would be Wallis. He's shown before he can score well, averaging 90 (unsubbed) in 2012 including 7 hundreds. He's a tackling machine, but just needs to start kicking more than handballing. Tagging duties don't seem to affect his score either, in fact he often scores better when tagging.

But really I wouldn't be starting any of them.

for me its Stevens > Wallis > Macrae, really thinking bout having Stevens + Daisy at M4 & M5

Jacka Macca for me out of those three.

eaglesman

macrae is best of the 3 as an option but dont pick them

Keeper27

after reading a bit on some Doggy forums most people agree that Macrae is ahead of stevens.
has had a great preseason, and has had a great NAB.

definitely on my team, BTW im going with Both daisy (or shiels) and Macrae as i think both will avg 90-100.

timtim

In that price bracket you're looking at Daisy or Caddy

Would you go one a second year player (2nd year blues) over one of the above guys

Keeper27

yes, yes i would... actaully i have caddy in my fwd line.

Macrae to do a Chad Wingard

He is my pick out of all last year's rookies to do that. Wouldn't pick him in SC but in draft games he could be a gun.

C.Judd3Votes

Can't get Stevens again. Got him last year was pretty ordinary...

GoLions

Wouldn't be picking any of these guys in my side considering the other value picks that there currently are. Would consider in Draft as Holz said though

Here my take on these 3 for what its worth

Wallis - looking very likely to continue with the run with roles - and has proven he can still score well doing this - but will also have a few low scores. He does look to have matured more and should play 22
He will be an integral part of our midfield over the next few years, but I would be waiting until he loses the run with role before selecting him in a starting team.

Stevens - came into 2013 a bit underdone due to some injury niggles through the NAB and had a few vests early in the season. As far as I know he has had a injury free run this off season.
He had some very good games last year and a few stinkers; I expect much better consistency this year. He's pretty tough and doesn't back away from a contest.
Has potential for a breakout, but I'd like to see more consistency first.

Macrae - This kid is a future star and looks like he is learning very quickly. He has added 2cm and 10kg and I think what the NAB has shown us is he now believes he can contest on the big stage. He is clean with the ball.
I expect him to play wing and I'm looking forward to watching him hit targets in the forward 50. I think he will go close to playing all 22 although could tire later in the season.
Hard to see him getting much attention unless he really breaks out, if he does it wont be by a key tagger ( let Griff free at your own peril)
2nd year player - akwardly mid priced - is this another NAB tease? - wouldn't be the worst pick - hes clean skills could mean he is the best of the three

Overall I think all 3 have upside and will generate some cash, but how much? and will that be more than a rookie will generate?
Its not beyond the realms of possibility but I would be very surprised if any of these became elite keepers.

I won't be taking any of these players (actually I wont be taking any mid pricers in the midfield)
