Forum behaviour

I have laid out four two-weeks bans and a permanent ban (Cicjose) today. With the new raft of mods has come a new focus on bad forum behaviour, which seems to be concentrated in a few areas. The Cricket board seems to carry the worst of it, as well as the Coaches board.

I would remind coaches, bootstudders and everyone else that the forums are supposed to be here to add to your enjoyment of fantasy sports and provide a fun (and safe) environment for you to chat with others. Anyone who disregards that philosophy in favour of constantly baiting, trolling or abusing other posters is going to risk a ban, and mod patience is running thin at the moment.

Those who remember him have an appreciation for what the late Elxam brought to the FanFooty boards, and with good reason. Elxam was unfailingly positive, never chipped at anyone else nastily, and was generally a good person to have around. I realise that everyone is different, and if we were all just like Elxam then life would probably be more boring, but there are limits to these things and some posters have exceeded the limits lately. What I'm trying to say is that we could do with a little more Elxam around here, and if you can find a bit more Elxam inside yourself then maybe we can all get back to what Elxam was all about, which was:

FUN!
:)

Does this mean we can start talking on the cricket boards again or is it more or less a no go zone now  :-\

Talking is fine. Sniping or trolling is not.

I have asked for cricket Board to be unlocked and the guidelines that m0nty has stipulated will be looked at given that most of the abuse etc occurred in this board.

Perhaps we can get back to talking cricket and enjoy making comments on the deciding test.  Will Watson be fully fit?

Sincerely hope the nasty argumentative and antagonizing stuff is left in the past where it belongs and we can get back to the friendly funny harmless banter i and many others get such a laugh from while the site goes about doing what it does best, provide assistance to people with fantasy relevant issues across all comps including DT and SC Champions, entertainment for all of us and somewhere to come to discuss all manner of issues sporting or otherwise with friends. All the reasons me you everyone comes here and keep coming. I want it to be back to that. Everyone needs to police it and keep it at the forefront of their mind at all times, speak out and say when something is out of line or you have the option of reporting it. Everyone has to assist the mods in keeping it premium. We can not expect them to take all the flack and do all the dirty work to keep it premium like we want, its to much to ask of people who themselves are here to have an enjoyable time we have to keep ourselves in check and those that are out of line from time to time. Only way it will work.

Thanks for everything monty.

Whilst everything you said was true and great, I certainly hope that things don't become 100% 'rosy' from here in terms of everyone has to like and agree with what everyone else says. We should be able to disagree with each other and express that in a respectful and discussion-like manner without getting angry or personal about things. It would be completely boring if everyone went for the same team and thought/agreed about the same things, so it is up to each member of the community to realise what appropriate 'banter' is and abide.

Absolutely Scrads dont want a sterile inviroment, nothing should change from days gone by, just dont need the stuff that we all know will lead to a thread being derailed with an argument that spills into everything.

My advice for Forum behaviour is the same as for public speaking...

.... Picture everyone at their computers naked  :o

We have children on here, so should I call the cops on you now? :P.

Agree we need to know where the boundaries are. I love banter that goes on, just some resort to personal attacks. If they can stick to the topic and talk about that rather than the individuals discussing them, then all good. It is a footy forum, so bound to get banter all over the place!
