Are you not worried by the amount of time Trent West has played in the ruck this preseason? I had Luey for a bit but after seeing his hit outs and scores I would be really worried. Luey doesn't need hit outs to score well but it would have to impact his points a fair bit. Especially with Brisbanes early draw, I doubt the ball will be down in Brisbanes fwd half enough to let Luey get points as a forward

And what if he is subbed for the first few games, then finds some form for a month or so, just to start playing badly and tiring due to no pre-season and eventually sent in for more surgery, just like what happened last year? Leuey is safe as houses IMO for 100 and if Sandi is beasting and 'averaging 115' like you say then i'm set. Ruckmen scoring at 115 and 100 is fine. Goldy is tipped to have a backup this year and we all know how he copes with that so i can't see him averaging 115 again. If Nicnat is going nuts and sandi or Leuey isn't then i'll get him in, its only one trade, just like what could happen if NicNat doesn't fire.

All your points are what ifs, i'd rather stick with Leuey, the much safer pick and see what happens from there.

This is worst case scenario.

Nic said he's aiming to play a full-game in their intra-club, if he achieves this without any soreness I see no reason why he would get vested three games in a row. Red vest in 1 or 2 maybe if the game is a blowout, but if NN gets red-vested on 80 I'll cop that.

There are so many if's and what if's in "Ruckland" this year that I'm going to bite the bullet, cop whatever subs and low scores come and play Nicnat. One of the few facts that most agree on is that in form he is a top scoring ruckman so I'm going to keep the trade. Another reason I'm doing this is that I honestly can't come up with another  set and forget I trust enough to be a top 4 player. What if Sandi goes down?? Would hate to have to double trade to get my final 2 rucks, so right, wrong, insane or just brain-dead,   NICNAT IS IN !!    ::)

This. Bring on the dreadlocks.

Now people are seeing some sense. Lock him in, especially if he goes well in the intraclub

Moops we are definitely drinking at the same bar. IMO  if a coach can pick 12 totally set and forget players in his/her opening team
it is a huge bonus.
To me NIcnat is one of the first picked. my current dozen are:=   S Mitchell,  P Hanley,  K Simpson,  G Birchall,  G Ablett,  T Liberatore,  T Cotchin,  D Beams,  Nicnat,  P Dangerfield,  Dusty Martin,  L Franklin. Then a couple of midpricers, a few cheapies plus the obligatory rookies ( Jack Martin a definite ) Cheers and all the best mate.   :)

If he plays rd 1 without green vest he is in - this is the tricky bit though as he plays in the last game of rd 1. ( contingency cash to upgrade to Cox/Minson)

Rucks will be my only risk area though - I have solid proven premiums on all other lines.

I find the risk vs reward too good to pass up. ( risk v reward might be calculated differently if I was also carrying Thomas, Suckling etc)

Hahah cheers mate, yep if I've learnt one thing in my years of SC is that there is never, ever, enough trades, so if I can potentially save 1 I'm definitely gonna give it a red hot crack. All the best to you too!

The other thing is, he is such a high profile player that compared to a rookie who the media care less about we may be more likely to hear news during  the week prior to his game if he is likely to wear the vest or not. If I'm a sports journalist interviewing someone from the Eagles camp high up on my list of questions is going to be the status of NN heading into their first game. Here's hoping!
