True but Brisbane rely heavily on a select few and you always know 4-5 will always get around that 100 mark for them whether that be Rockliff, Redden, Hanley, Rich, Leuey, Moloney etc
It doesn't help but they still get a fair share of the 3300 pie, he's as talented as you can get, I wouldn't worry

nic nat then cox then luey then big boy for mine ... its a waiting game on nic nat for now

Yeah true mate, kind of kicking myself I didn't choose him in SC Draft last night, think he's in for a ripper year. Chose Ziebell instead.

so, despite NicNat playing a couple of days ago and primed for one more hit out before round one (which is after an extra week than some other teams due to the split first round), why is everyone still seemingly writing him off? it's not like we're paying absolute top ruck dollar (~600k), and in full flight he's probably the top SC ruckman in terms of scoring potential.

Something to think about - In his first match last year after returning from injury he was subbed out for 40

With us playing the doggies at home (The same opposition he was subbed out against last year!), there has to be a chance that we have a nice lead during the 3rd/half time and he gets subbed out again

Do we factor that possibility into this?

I really want to start him, but everything is telling me that he is an upgrade target for Sandi

Vs Doggies hey?

I can feel an upset.

Danger game danger game!

RD - I am pretty sure he wore the Green vest on his return last year - if my memory serves me correctly he came on mid way through 3rd qtr

but I guess still has a chance for a vest in 1st round - except you will need him to stay on as you wont be comfortably in front during 3rd.

RaisyDaisy

That's right Dog, but if he gets the green vest we would need to make sure we have enough in the bank to upgrade him to Cox or Minson as this is the last game of the round

Or just run with Leuey and forget NicNat for now, leaving him for an upgrade. I'm glad i'm over NicNat, yes when fit he will be top ruckmen but his not and is a huge vest candidate. WAY TO RISKY IMO! The sooner you get over him like i did a month back, the better! :P

I agree. I've said numerous times that I don't pick players who have had interrupted preseasons, because they've always burnt me. NicNat will be my upgrade target for Sandi. Its not as if NicNat is going to come out and average 120 or so anyway

This is where the dilemma lies. Personally I want NicNat and probably Goldy as my R1 and R2 come end of season. Nobody is starting with Goldy, way too expensive. So then if NN is the upgrade target for Sandi, what do we do with say Leuey or whoever we pick to start round 1? Sideways trade? No thanks..
I think the question comes down to how many points we regard a trade to be worth. Say you start with Nic and he scores 50 round 1, then averages 100 from then on out. Would an extra trade later on allow you to compensate or even improve on the 50 points you lost in round 1?

And what if Sandi is averaging 115 by the time you want to upgrade him? With the way Sandi is going I'm seeing him as a keeper unless he gets injured again. I'll be starting NicNat. Save a trade to get him in and he is already underpriced. He finds ways to get points and I would expect at least 80 from him without a vest and I'm okay with that for the first 2 or 3 games

absolutely, NicNat has probably one of the higher ceilings out of the prem ruckmen, if your only avenue to grabbing him is upgrading a dominant Sandi or sideways trading your starting R1 it makes it hard to do if he starts going nuts

hawkers65

And what if he is subbed for the first few games, then finds some form for a month or so, just to start playing badly and tiring due to no pre-season and eventually sent in for more surgery, just like what happened last year? Leuey is safe as houses IMO for 100 and if Sandi is beasting and 'averaging 115' like you say then i'm set. Ruckmen scoring at 115 and 100 is fine. Goldy is tipped to have a backup this year and we all know how he copes with that so i can't see him averaging 115 again. If Nicnat is going nuts and sandi or Leuey isn't then i'll get him in, its only one trade, just like what could happen if NicNat doesn't fire.

All your points are what ifs, i'd rather stick with Leuey, the much safer pick and see what happens from there.
