Nah it's followed by saints v demons and the eagles v doggies on sunday. So really your options become Cox or Minson if NicNat is a late out.

The real worry with NicNat as eluded to in another thread is that West Coast play the final game of Round 1. If he is named, do you risk him being a late withdrawal 90 minutes before the game and being left with nothing?

Decisions, decisions :-\

Just make sure you have enough in the bank to get Cox instead ;)

No fair! that's my strategy ;)
The attraction of NicNat is that he is under priced and cheaper than the Top 3. If you're saving an extra 60k just in case for Cox, it  kind of defeats the purpose of picking NicNat in the first place doesn't it?

Not if I'm happy with my team and was always going to reserve some cash in case of corrective trades over the opening rounds anyway.

And my main motivation for picking NicNat is that I think he has a serious shot at top ruck if he stays fit. Not just due to being underpriced.

Big ?
After he came back last year I jumped on board and it derailed my season. His pre season kept others away and I should have been one them. If I had gone Minson or Goldy instead I don't know how high I could have finished but would have been well up on my 1900 odd and well inside the top 1k which I was in all year bar the last 2 rounds.
Anyway. He has been cottonballed for a while and who knows how fit he is? How has his pre season been so far? Is he completely over his problems? Why hasn't he played yet? Will he be managed for a bit longer? Is he 100%? I'm steering well clear for the moment. Not making that same mistake. I'll wait till Sandi carks it and he is primed for the taking...if it pans out that way.

I thought he was the main ruck already

lads you also gotta think about the fact that IF he is back for round 1 will he even run out a full game? he may start as the sub or more than likely even get subbed OUT early. with sandi already a bit of a risk, starting nicnat in your team is another risk you'd have to say.

just the way i see it. at the moment its looking like Luey or Cox at R1 for mine ;)

There is a reason why Joel Selwood isn't in many teams, he has had and injury interrupted preseason yet is capable of being top three mids. Yet we are all hoping NicNat can get up for round one even though he has probably had a worse pre-season than Joel. I can't see myself picking him to be honest especially with Sandi at r2 too much risk in my opinion.

Its not as though he hasn't done a preseason though. He has been running since November.
Its just he hasn't been training with the main group to avoid change of direction and reactive movements, as a precautionary because it could cause his groins to flair up. Now he has been training with the main group for close to a month (off the top of my head). His fitness definitely won't be the issue
Compared to Joel who has missed weeks recently. And the fact that NicNat is under priced where as Jelwood isn't.

Agree, with Sandi at R2 we need to be locking in a ubber safe option at R1 and look at Nic Nat as an upgrade target if all goes well.

RaisyDaisy

Not starting NicNat - too much questions marks and I learnt many years ago you don't start with someone who has had an interrupted preseason

Sandi can be upgraded to NicNat later in the season if NicNat warrants selection

Spot on. Nic Nat hasn't had a full pre season so I will pass. Sandi has to be a lock at R2 and will be (VC) for round 1.
Against the Pies he could be brutal playing against Grundy.

Grazz

Yeh Sandi could post a huge one in Rnd 1, certainly food for thought as far as a round 1 captain goes.

RaisyDaisy

Simmo said today that they are hoping to get 50 minutes or so into him, and they have low expectations

Will be nursing him into the season for sure

As a Eagles supporter, I'm glad we are looking after him and not rushing

As a SCer I am gutted I don't think I can start him!

cortez

This could be a great thing though, it basicall. Means you can go with a mid priced ruck and either have a small upgrade to a NicNat at maybe 450k or less or just choose any prem you want and if they don't go as well as you think simply sideways or downgrade to NicNat!
