the way i see it:

Pendles (125 - 130) + Murphy (105 - 120) = 230 - 250

Watson (115 - 125) + Cotchin (115 - 120) = 230 - 245

Murphy has tag problems....Watson has ASADA issues.....

GoLions

Those averages seem a bit generous for everyone but Pendles. Can't see Murphy going over 110, Watson probably won't go past 120, and Cotchin will struggle to get past 115.

Pendles (125-130) + Murphy (105-110) = 230 - 240

Watson (115-120) + Cotchin (110-115) = 225 - 235

Even if you fudge the expected scores and make the pairs even, you must select the pair which contains the player with the highest average as he will be your captain from time to time and statistically is worth more.

So - Pendles is the reason to go Murphy and Pendles.

_wato

I have to disagree here, sorry lads.

Although you are correct Doc, you do want the highest scoring player so he can warrant captaincy, but I also believe that a trade used is worth gold in itself and far outweighs captaincy decisions you may have to make. Pendlebury has a tough draw so I won't be making him captain at all (with confidence more so) and I'd try and use the loophole as much as possible. Ablett will take that rein.

Plus it's only for 6-8 weeks, and you'd be upgrading to Pendlebury anyway. Watson and Cotchin are both underpriced on their performances last year and I expect them both to be top 8 mids, Murphy I do see not. I also see Murphy only averaging 5 points per game less than Cotchin in your averages as an insult. Cotchin by 10-15 ppg IMO.

GoLions

Pendles tends to go to the next level and really step up against the top teams, so definitely going to be VC/C for me in most games up until the bye.
And what do you expect Cotchin to average? Can't see him beating Murphy by 15ppg...

_wato

You could be right mate, but Pendles will have to play superbly well to even warrant selection base on the first few weeks. I know he is a god send and I love him to bits but I can only see him scoring around 120-125 at a maximum. He is very very expensive.

I think Cotchin can go 120 quote easily, Murphy will struggle to get 105-110.

Looking at last year's scores against the teams he is due to play first 7 rounds this year, Pendles averaged 125 or so from memory.

That'll do me.

Wtf are you guys smoking?  :o

You're saying you can ONLY see pendles going 120-125 ? And you can see cotchin raising his average by 15 points EASILY? Wow...

I agree that cotchin should improve on last year's output. I would say 110-115 is entirely plausible. But have a look at pendles and how he scores on the big stage. What taggers? What tough run? He is the new captain of the club and should be SC captain or vice every week just about.  Only ones who could match him are GAJ and possibly a fully fit Beams. No other player has really shown a 130 potential lately.

Pendles and Murphy, better scores, other two are good value though.

tor01doc

MC hammer that point home.

or let them smoke!  ::)

I just realised the topic has it spelt as "Pandles" ahaha I don't know why I find that so funny  ;D

_wato

Yeah I do see Pendles only going 120-125. Beams being in the side has always been a flaw to Pendlbury's output by upto 5 ppg as a a fact. Add to that Crowley, Hocking, Jackson, Curnow/Carrazzo, Hunt etc and he's going to have to play very very well. I'm expecting a early fall in price and the prediction of a 130 average for him is pushing him I think. I stand to be proven wrong however.

Cotchin 110-115 is plausible? When he averaged 116 two years ago and averaged 125 up until he started getting knee pains and niggles last year, yet still managed a 106 average? Pfft you're crazy. One only had to watch the game against Collingwood to see his potential. 157 SC points, 34 touches and 4 goals against quality opposition.

Cotchin and Watson IMO, Murphy is the sole reason why I suggest this.

tor01doc

So - Pendles 2013 vs the 7 teams he faces this year up to the bye - AVERAGE 129.18

Cotchin - 104.89.

Watson will outscore Murphy.

Say Cotchin 115 and Watson 115

Pendles 125 Murphy 105

Totals both 230

BUT if one has to be captain - Pendles 250 + Murphy 105 -> 355

Watson and Cotchin 230 + 115 -> 345.

10 points to us hey MC?

Bully

Wato is spot on IMO, Pendles has to front up to Crowley in the first round who kept him to 97 last year. If it's a similar blanket job he'll almost certainly come down in price.

colmullet

even if he does get beaten in round 1 that score only stays in his rolling average for 1 round.....and you wont be bringing him in round 4.....so its irrelevant
