Laidler is a scrub, not worth the money, 8 possies from like 85% TOG is a joke even if it was a NAB CUP game.

LOL we are going to have to field a few rookies unless you are going with a team of full mid prices Rico...i'll take L-Macs sub scores at D6, cant justify spending all this money on backmen..i will not be spending unnecessary money down back!
Haha I'd rather an 80 from an extra rookie mid with Suckers at D6 then a sub score from a rookie anywhere. Seriously think this is a legitimate option now

+1.
Hibberd + Tyson or Rockliff and $110k backline rookie scoring 50s with minimal job security?
I feel like there's a lack of money to be made outside the midfield this year. My team is pretty unbalanced atm, but I feel a lot safer with my rookie selections actually getting game time.

Chances are we will all hit a few rookie SUB scores...you're a genius if you can avoid them.

Are you prepared to field 4 mid rookies though..that is the question here..i assume most SC'ers by now have 3 midfield rookies on ground and suckers at D6 will take you to 4...unless you're planning on 2 on field rookies up forward?
Mate..if i could pick all these ''80'' scoring rookies people are talking about i reckon i could win this thing!  wait till the season comes and half of these predictions return a more modest output of 55-75
And yes what you said theoretically makes sense but at what expense? another Ryhce Shaw type at D5 Suckling D6?..nope i'll hold firm on my position.
To achieve what you are saying perhaps another mid priced midfielder like Savage downgraded from a Premo is a safer option over a forth on field rookie, compromising between JS and Cash generation...either way avoiding any possible rookies SUB scores will be super impressive

PS loving these debates...gets the brain ticking. ;)

I've done it with a 3 rookie midfield but there's nothing wrong with a 4 rookie midfield. Ellis, JMartin, Sheed, Michie, Tyson, Polec, Dunstan all have enough JS for us to be comfortable in relying with them. Then there is Lamb, Higgins, Fasolo, Rohan, JKH who are just as safe in the fwd line. Chuck in Kersten and Honeychurch and we see that all the solid rookie priced players are from the mids and fwds this year. It is definitely a viable option to load the backline this year

Yep go cheap in mids and forwards and big in defense I have a set and forget def and rucks currently feels weird after last year
