Jack Watts? plenty of hype around him playing in the middle this season could possibly average 85+

Atley? Another who could potentially break out?

If he doesn't avg around 85 playing mid in a high possession game style under Roos then there really is something wrong with him.

However I want 90+ for that price.

I'd pick Watts if I thought he was going to average 95+, waiting on his NAB game though just to see where he plays and all.

Watts has always killed it in the preseason, then proceeded to blow thousands of supercoachers out of the water. He's the ultimate in fools gold. As for the promise of more midfied time, don't think that Bailey & Neeld didn't try the same thing.

Yeah but we can't just keep saying that as an excuse, the kid isn't completely useless, he is #1 draft pick for a reason. Obviously he hasn't been too great so far but keep the faith I reckon. If anyone is to fix him up its Roos. I am still going to watch him and I might even pick him, haha.

Good luck if you pick him, he won't go anywhere near my side until he has some runs on the board.

Watts no, Suckling at his price yes.

Two names which haven't been mentioned are Ben Griffiths (230k) & Jackson Allen (197k). With Maric likely to be out of action for 8 weeks, it will probably be a Hampson/Griffiths combo in the meantime. Griffiths scored 80 odd points against Collingwood and should be good for 60+ every week.

Allen from GC was just named in the best players against Brisbane so may also be in contention for round 1.

I mentioned him 3rd post into this thread  ;)

Suckling has to be the best pick to date, but Shaw and Griffiths should be monitored

Definitely worth monitoring as he looks to have some decent short term JS.

I'm hoping he can cement a spot, because at 230k I would be willing to start him, which would allow me to strengthen up my mids

I think the prognosis is pretty good, Hampson will need some assistance and Griffiths is the only one on the list who fits the bill. Maric could be sidelined for 8 weeks, certainly time enough for you to make some cash.

Ricochet

There is literally hardly any risk in picking Suckers

1) He is so cheap he only needs to average 75 to make you 100k
2) and most importantly, nearly everyone will have him.

dmac07

No mention of E.Wood at 215k, also saves you a 100k so doesnt need the highest average to make some coin.

Wood will average about 50-55. The most games he's ever played in a season is 15 and also got his highest average of 56.9... I'm pretty sure Suckling can average more than 20 points more than that, which is about what the 100k would be worth. So effectively if suckers averages >70-75 he's a better pick than Wood.

Ignoring his injury game last year Wood averaged about 51 from 4 games... 2010 av 52.5 from 9 games, 2011 56.9 from 15 games, 2012 av 56.4 from 14 games. Suckers wins that easily imo.
