Watson will be my 2nd upgrade target after Pendles. Nothin at all wrong with Starting Watson but I've picked others - GAJ for permacaptain, Rocky because I think he will fly and round 10 bye is noce, Cotchin, Beams and Daisy for underpriced performers - all of whom I think are better value than Watson

SydneyRox

he certainly isnt underpriced, but wont fall much in value either.. prob wont start him either, but that could change.

Agree with everything except the Rocky over Jobe pick.

Currently have Ablett, Pendles, Watson, Rockliff, Beams & Thomas and feeling pretty selfish.

Fair enough. The little bit of a price difference does help also. I think they will average similarly

LOL

I've played around with a Mid structure like this but it just makes the other lines too weak

Can't work with the apparent difficulty in picking reliable cash cows and the price hike for rookies this year.

If anything, for a slow burn of a season with entering league finals with a head of steam, a team full of mid rookies would make more money than a team full of low scoring forward and back rookies.

I think.  ???

For those thinking about picking up Jobey to start...

Given the length of time it's taken up to this point I wouldn't be confident of knowing before the season starts exactly what action will be taken...
From my POV, Watson is a huge risk. He went on tv and admitted being administered AOD-9604. From a strict anti-doping point of view, open and shut case really. The fact that there was ostensibly confusion over it's legality is not a mitigating factor really. If you're a pro cyclist and you get administered with EPO either thinking it was legal or thinking it was something else, it doesn't matter. The UCI will slap a ban on you. To me it's the same thing here... You took AOD-9604, it's not legal, even if you thought it was, sorry about that, enjoy your 2 year holiday.

I was never going to start him anyway. But for those of you who were, forewarned is forearmed as they say.

Highly concerning, would you say steer clear of other Essendon players also?
This may be an "unpopular' point of veiw but... I was sort of thinking that Corruption would win out and the AFL would find a way to sweep this all under the carpet for fear of exposing other clubs ect...If the bans go ahead it tells me ASADA can't be paid off which is a good thing.

Nothing against Essendon but you do the crime, you pay the time & tbh IMO they probably are not/were not the only club pushing the limits.
Love my footy and hate this sort of stuff but only a complete fool buries his head in the sand, where there is money and pressure to succeed there will always be rule breakers...Andrew Demetriou needs to accept responsibility for what has happened under his watch and step down,he is a liar and paying Herd while he is banned/suspended i see as blackmail for his silence.

Not what the game needed this close to the season , have Watson at the moment and it is making me have second thoughts but why has it taken so long for ASADA to get to this they still have not interviewed Dank yet they are starting to make politicians look competent

I've commented on the Essendon board about this, but essentially ASADA exist to ensure this sort of thing is done properly, and a full team list investigation is probably beyond the scale of what they're used to. Because of the huge penalties that can be imposed, they have to be above reproach and have every single t crossed and i dotted, which is why it has taken so long. There is no room for overlooking something or omitting something, it has to be extremely thorough. Dank refused to be interviewed, there's not too much they could do about that. In short, they don't give a shower about the corporate juggernaut, they care about the sporting code. In there minds, what the game needs is to be clean, they don't care about creating a fuss right before the start of the season.

Re: other bombers, I'd be wary of anyone who was in the team in 2012 or prior. Subsequent rookies or acquisitions, fine (ie Chappy and Goddard should be clean if you were thinking of picking them up).
Re: corruption, there's a lot of money in a lot of sports, but the reality is that it's probably cheaper to try and stay ahead of the tests than it is to try and corrupt an entire organisation. Don't think ASADA would ever be paid off. One thing that is important to note is that it is the AFL who decide the penalties, ASADA make recommendations to the governing body. They can then appeal them if they don't think they were harsh enough (happens frequently, they basically always push for a 2 year ban, anything less stands a good chance of being appealed by ASADA).
They're certainly not the only club to push the limits, that's part and parcel of high performance sport and I think when managed properly it's a good thing. However when you get unscrupulous individuals who aren't worried about going too far past the line, it becomes a problem. Not sure exactly what you expect Demetriou could/should have done, I don't lay any blame at his feet really. Hird should have had better control over his support staff. Weapon and Dank shouldn't have flirted with anything even possibly illegal, that's just cavalier...

Doctor Count?

I haven't had Watson in my plans from the start, I'm happy to wait and see if this is all a storm in a teacup and get him in after byes. We'll see.

no eye deer

Just had a look at my side and yep, not one Bomber currently in there. Maybe it was a sub concious thing? ::)
