Rucks with DPP fwd cover

Yes another ruck thread!
So at the moment I've got Hickey Sandi Syd rookie Thurlow(DPP)

Thoughts on picking a DPP in my forward line or just taking the risk with no ruck coverage?
The forward options are thin now Bellchambers and Vardy are injured

Dixon, still not convinced on his consistency
Hale, will play less ruck time with McEvoy in the team but will be more of a forward target without buddy. Also a vest candidate

The rest are barely worth mentioning

Majak Daw
Stefan Martin
Shaun Mckernan

Barring long term injury I couldnt see any of those bottom 4 getting past 10-12 games

I don't like the idea of having backup for a risk you're taking. Yes, if it doesn't pay off, the backup saves you from having to waste extra trades. But if it does work out, and both Sandi and Hickey manage to make good cash by the byes, then you're gonna have to waste a trade on (for example) Dixon, as it's likely he won't be a top 10-15 forward by the end of the year.

Long story short, IMO if you're going to take the risk, don't have a player who you don't want to finish the year with as backup. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out.

Whether we like it or not Dixon is the only real Ruck/Fwd swing option there.

If you have to have cover in your forwards for your rucks means you have no confidence in your rucks , this year is not like last year where we were blessed in the DPP ruck department , just put at least one gun ruck in and a cheapie if you have to but don't compromise your forwards because of it , that's my advice good luck

Totally agree with GoLions

If your going to go with 2 dirt cheap rucks this year, then just go in with the back up plan of sideways trading them if they get injured or upgrading come byes should they make it

RUC/FWD DPP is completely irrelevant this year IMO

Dixon isn't a bad pick, i see him as decent coverage for the whole year in saying that i am starting 5 premo 430k+ fowards so if a am required to swing him into the rucks i will not be leaving my Fwd line too exposed..i don't believe Dixon is viable if you're running with a 4 premo Fwd setup however.

IMO either have a Fwd/Ruck swing or don't go Sandi...otherwise you are relying on blind luck that he strings together at least 5/6 games & his risk of injury/being rested in between is far to great. 3 cheap rucks is wasted money on the bench.

And i don't feel as though i am compromising as i feel Dixon is a decent option up forward anyway.

Edit. Also think that trading Sandilands out should he get injured ect ect is extremely counter-productive as you would be trading to another cheap ruck who himself may not be a keeper...
