Hi all,

SC is all about instinct and backing your gut feel.

To win overall / league you need to take selection risks.

Over the last few years I've selected POD players on instinct and gut feel hoping they'd perform.

Players like M. Walters, M Wright, T Hawkins, J Watts and T Varcoe. They've burnt me big time.

They haven't delivered in the past, but these type of guys I feel deserve a second crack. They're on the breakout bubble.

I'm interested to know what players have burnt you in the past, but now you're considering to give a 2nd chance?

Cheers,

Ben

Picking ''Breakout'' players is such BS!..pardon my french lol...99 out of a hundred times you'll get it wrong, especially if you're selecting them by ''gut feeling'', much easier to pick fallen premiums.

If you are looking for those breakout players you must really crunch the numbers and find out where those ares of improvement in their game lie, then make an educated decisions as to whether or not you think that player can improve.

Research is the key.

And i don't give second chances....Yarran taught me that >:(

the only player I have given a 2nd chance to was Dustin Martin in 2013 after he burned me in 2012. It paid off as he took his average too 100+ for the first time.

Apart from that I don't really give 2nd chances. Sam Jacobs burned me last year and I can't bring myself to pick him again.

Agree with the above, and to a certain extent I apply the same rule to mid pricers too

Only proven premiums who have fallen to injury (Sandi, Daisy) are who I would consider

Your Higgins, Clarkes, Fasolo's, Watts, Wright etc etc are Mid priced for a reason

I haven't had in my team once. Premiums, Injured Fallen Premiums and Rookies is how I stack up each year

Once burnt I never go back.

Spud Jacobs, Broughton, Duffield... oh the pain

Hawkins is the one player in that list who could turn things around. Still risky but could easily hit the 500k mark if he strings together a handful of good games. But he's not a keeper, just a stepping stone to a proven premium. I'm 50/50 on whether I'll select him but he's in my team at present, subject to more rookies emerging from the pack.

I might take the gamble on David Swallow as he looks to be getting more midfield time. Tom Hawkins can score 120 one week then 50 the next. I'll pass on him.

None of the ones you have mentioned have burnt me probably because I have never picked them apart from Hawkins but had him the year before last but Jacobs , Duffield I will steer clear of
