Thank You and I assume with these auctions you will again set end time.

Yup :)

kb has it right... it will be up to the coach themselves to nominate a player
So how will it work if I want to bid more for the player KB nominates or is it once KB nominates his player and the amount he belongs to him. If this is the case my strategy needs to change drastically.

Say kilbluff wants Joe Bloggs.

I see he has 2 strategies:

- Enter his bid for Joe Bloggs straight away ($200,000), with plenty of time for others to bid. The risk being that others could then outbid him.

- Wait until the last possible moment to bid, and risk not getting him at all with all the confusion.

So no, you don't automatically get the player.
So the system is you have a window to nominate Player-X, not you nominate Player-X and then there's an auction for him?

Wont that just lead to whoever doesn't have a full team, not nominating prospective players to the last minute? What happens if two or more people try to nominate the same player in the last seconds of the nomination window?

kilbluff1985

highest bid gets him

They've had cricket autioning like this on this site before, and it was exciting.... People would leave it to the last minute, and then not able to bid, or someone else bids just before them..... That's the risk of bidding at the last minute. Plus the strategy of pushing prices up.

If two people say bid $150k in the dying seconds, the first bid counts.

wait wait wait

han gon i'm confused

say i nominate joe blow does it then have 24 hours?

or do you mean you will say ok in next 24 hours nominate how many and whoever you want and bid away

and your saying the strategy in that is weather to do it early or wait but run the chance of missing out or others bidding etc?

^ this one

How are you going to cope with all those last minute posts of players who have not been picked? What also is the process if we lose bids in the last minutes and do not have 10 players.  Will there be a supplementary auction again or not?

HintT

Wouldn't mind links to the cricketing drafts to read for reference

I think it's going to get crazy if you have say teams needing ~20 players in total and some up to 3-4 each, the bidding would get chaotic last minute then.

It's effectively who can post last without time expiring.

Yep just like the current auctions.

For some reason oss doesnt like my idea if a bid is put on last minute then extend the bidding period but 2-5 minutes.

DazBurg

thing that will annoy me though is if say 20 players n the go
and you get that someone else has just posted nonsense

so it wasn't that i was late just if all 12 of us trying to post at same time etc

Nige

That 30 sec cool-down period after posting is going to be a dog as well.

Will be as many auctions as it takes

Btw, nobody is forcing anyone to last minute bid.  Completely your choice

Yeah, is a good point. Highlights the need to plan your bids

All that would do is have lots of last minutes. There will still be one winner and one loser. Doesn't increase anyone's chance of winning,  if anything will just raise prices
