At his price it's so tempting but I'm worried he will get tagged out of games too often now that Judd is on the decline. Would like to drop watson for him and spend that 100k elsewhere! What's everyone think?

Yes I think he can, would I be confident? Not really :(

He has the ability to be a top 10-15 mid, but I just can't bring myself to pick him. At his price, it's not like he can be a decent cash cow if it doesn't work out. He would have to average 110 for me to want him, and I don't think he'll get back to that this year, but possibly the year after.

There were a couple of things I was looking for in the NAB game from Murph

1. Where he played

The reason for this, what hurt Murphy most last season was the extended periods he spent up forward. I would put a lot of that down to his niggling knee injury, but he wasn't in the middle as much as he had been in previous seasons and it hurt his scoring. He seemed to spend a lot of time on the forward flank/wing through the NAB and if that is the case in the regular season that is not a good sign for his scoring potential.

2. His burst

When Murph was at his best a couple of seasons back he had a bust of pace to gain separation from the opposition midfielders and break away. He could play inside, but one thing that made him so damaging was this spread. He got caught a couple of times from behind when trying to break away, I don't know if it was just to do with it being a pre-season game, he has lost a bit of zip or the worst case his knee is still bothering him.

I would keep a close eye on him in the Crows game as both teams should play close to full strength squads before resting up the week after.

I've been backing him in all preseason and can easily see him getting back to 110+ (I can see 115+ tbh)
At his price he has to be a lock in my book

I've had him in from day dot, if Ziebell worked into my bye structure a bit better he could take murph's place, but barring injury Gaz & Beams will both be in my side, no room for the bull unfortunately. The tag is the biggest issue for murph. Everyone's talking about the injury to Judd and how that will effect him, it won't IMO, murph will cop the n1 tag anyway, the inclusion of Carrazzo should really help him at the stoppages.

People may drop off him with the shocker he put in against the Kangaroos.Hopefully he bounces back in the next game.
