I was at the game and watched him closely.

Ran mostly off a wing and disposal was very good...quite quick and did a lot of running in front of the ball - often burning his opponent off

He is expensive but there arent many alternatives coming through - I already have Polec, Halahan & Ellis.

Im tempted to swap him for CBeams but what will I save...40K? One weeks worth of price rise.

Judging a players form by pre season games is something I learnt not to take any notice of 3 years ago - I got burnt many times. Conditions were extremely greasy.

With Ablett , TEAC (RiskyTele), Bennell, Swallow, Harbrow, Hall and even Matera all capable of getting minders from the opposition, it just seems logical at this stage there will be a few smaller / mid sized players in that Suns side left off the leash

After the praise Ive read for this bloke, Im willing to take that risk - if he can get to 400k - Id be a happy camper

Rd 1 teams will shape all my players >250K selection in my team. He probably will be 1st to go if someone else bobs up cheaper - having that 220K already allowed for will make things easier in the few frantic final hours of team tinkering before rd 1 lockout

Rischitelli won't make the suns team.

The Gold Coast midfield will be:

Gaz, Prestia, JOM, Martin and Bennell, rotating in the forwards with someone (Bennell will spend the most time forward)

sammy123

Not in my team atm, but will make my decision after the next pre-season game

Ricochet

Don't let that game put you off him too much. Jaeger and others only scored a little more than him in what was a tight game. JMartin will be worth ever $ you spend on him

Danzac

I'm leaning towards Dom Tyson and Viv Michie over Martin simply because they're older (more developed) and because Martin has a lot of competition for a place. Lot of good midfielders for GC who need time on the field

Grufflez

Unless he starts pumping out 100's in NAB i won't be starting him

Don't think he has much competition for a place. For me it's the fact that HE'S SKINNY AND WILL PLAY MOSTLY HALF FORWARD. How can he score well enough from there?
JOM was 1/2 the price was built like a tank already went straight into the guts. He also didn't have to compete for points with another talented player they drafted the year before (he is that player JM is competing with). Not to mention the other improved mids and GAJ.

This is actually gonna do my head in. What does JM have to score to be worth it? I mean he doesn't have to make as much money (surely he needs 90+ to do that) But is 75 - 85 guaranteed every week worth it?

MAYBE - depends on other rookies! ARRGH! help! need a crystal ball ;D

One thing that really worries me is an off-game or two and he will prob. actually lose money

I think a lot of what you're paying for is his JS. However if guys like Beams, Michie, Ellis, Dunstan etc look like they'll be playing most games (up until the byes or thereabouts anyway) then that can make them better options as you are saving money which can be spent on turning a Lobbe into a NicNat and if they score within a few ppg of Martin they will make more cash than him. I currently have Martin out of my side.

That's why I'm all about the job security this year. Michie and Tyson both traded for by Melb, and Roos has already come out and said "Dom Tyson ooh baby!". Only see goo-goo eyes towards Martin from the fantasy community. Meh

Yes people are overlooking one crucial point..A bad game or a Vesting would destroy his rolling average and force you to hold him much longer..I don't believe he is the walk up start people think he is.
O'meara was a different story because GC still needed more quality in their mids, they simply don't need Martin like they needed O'meara in 2013

all over him if 150k- but 222k is to much!

Colley Dogs

Before the Essendon game I was 50/50. Now, with everyone getting cold feet he's a lock. Hope he has another quiet game next week.

HotTiges

team seems a bit better balanced without him in it. still considering swapping Daisy to Martin and upgrade elsewhere.. next NAB challenge game will be interesting for Martin.
