Minson and Lobbe and if money becomes a problem will swap Lobbe for Grundy at least he is young and fit

I'm really scratching my head over this one, there's not one single alternative that jumps out at me.

Lobbe - Finished 2013 like a freight train and looks to have a monopoly on ruck duties for the early part of the season. However, Port's draw is horrible from Lobbe's perspective and he comes up against the best ruckmen very early in the piece.

Based on 2013-

Carl (64 & 79 = 71)
Adel (83 & 84 = 83.5)
North (65)
Bris (65)
WC (91)

Average = 75.2

Now there could be an argument that Lobbe is on the way up but for 464k i think I would want a bit more certainty, in fact Sauce Jacobs seems to be a bit more appealing to be honest, and he's also fractionally cheaper.

Mcintosh sounds appealing on paper but he hasn't played for 2 seasons & Dawson Simpson will be breathing down his neck.

Hickey could be a good selection but again, he hasn't yet laid claim to number one ruck duties, and Longer could easily be given the nod.

Hampson would be ideal if Maric was injured, but in tandem he'll probably only be getting 40% ruck time.

My instinct is telling me to go down the Grundilands path, at least Brodie will have sole ruck duties and should be good for 75-85 points a match. It does worry me that all that he's still a second year player and has just come off a season with stress fractures. I also wonder whether Collingwood plan on managing his workload with Witts relieving when necessary.

Time will tell but the rucks are doing my head in this year.

Honestly, NicNat hasn't been in my plans.

If I was gonna choose any of the risky/injury-prone, it would be H-Mac.

I reckon I'll set and forget with somebody like Mummy/Lobbe or Mummy/Minson.

Mummy hasn't once played out a full season, in fact if you factor in finals he's missed an average of 5 games every year for the past 4 seasons. Set and forget couldn't be further from the truth.

He is, but I wouldn't say as much as the others.

In the past 4 years, he's played 19, 17, 14 and 19 games in the respective seasons and averaged 92, 112, 90 and 91.

Always been a fan, and I reckon he'll be good a chance to return to an average of 100 this year.

Ended last year really nicely too. I reckon he's a safer option than the other three (H-Mac, NicNat, Sandi).

I'm well aware of that as mentioned above.

I've responded to the thread declaring my intentions, I'm not expecting people to agree with me or even be convinced to follow suit.

A lot of people are excited by Lobbe because Redden went down, but Renouf is still at the club to steal ruck time from him.
Interestingly though, portadelaidefc.com.au has Renouf on the rookie list.

I agree with you on this. Sauce has a 100+ avg season under his belt, whereas Lobbe's "break-out" was inflated by playing Geelong twice who were down to their 99th-string ruck by then

4 of those 7 scores were in the early rounds whilst lobbe was co sharing the ruck with Renouf or Redden. His form and scoring were much better after the bye as sole ruck. No doubt Goldy, Leuey, Kreuezer, Cox/NicNat and Sauce will provide stiff opposition but I'd still expect a couple of 100+ scores from him by R5. No Redden. No worries.
