Having a play around with my team and came up with this, bit risky but I don't mind it, very risky rucks but do have Dixon for cover and yes there are 3 swans in my forward line but that won't be like tbat come byes plus I don't have any other starting swans so don't see it as a problem, anyway here's what I came up with, let me know what you think :)

Def: Mitchell, Hanley, Swallow, Atley, Suckling, McDonald (Laidler, Fuller)

Mids: Ablett, Dangerfield, Cotchin, Beams, Thomas, J. Martin, Tyson, Polec (Dunstan, O'Rourke)

Rucks: McIntosh, Sandilands (Thurlow, Nankervis)

forwards: D. Martin, Dixon, Franklin, Parker, Pavlich, Rohan (Kersten, Garlett)

$13,900 in bank

Is Atley flavour of the month or something? What have I missed?

Like your defence.

Danger needs to be a forward - for sure.

HMc is a reasonable pick if he plays.

None of the forwards worry me  either.

Main issue is that unless every single one becomes a keeper your final team won't be competitive as your best on each line proabably won't be the best available.

You'll need too many trades to upgrade these guys.

You will start fast but soon be overtaken unless you are very lucky.

So - good luck - you're going to need it.

Cheers, I've liked Atley for a long time actually, it's been hin or swallow in my team for a while now. And yea Danger will be a forward as soon as I make my first upgrade whichange will be a mid. I sti'll feel there is plenty of iimprovement with 5 rookies in my mids and 3 in forward's and defence plus I tthink I have enough actual keepers to make this work in Mitchell, Hanley, GAJ, Cotchin, Beams, Danger, Martin, Dixon, Franklin and Pav that's 10 and then if a couple out of Swallow, Atley, Suckling, Thomas, McIntosh, Sandi and Parker can make the jump to premo then I should be right and hopefully 2 or 3 of those 7 can

I like the lateral thinking of Danger moving forward, but how does it really help if he is taking a spot from a mid cash cow at the start?

So do you get rid of a forward first?

I'd be interested to hear your rationale.

Its not bad at all! Id push danger fwd and have a honeychuch in mids as your link. Not sold on Atley but he is pretty solid. Most teams will have the odd midpricer this year.
Swallow is an unknown. Was injured and swept up at the back but he hasnt improved and has worsened in key indicators since he started playing. Not sure why everyone is so keen. Even moving into mids this yr, Im not sure his delivery is suited to sc.

What I'm thinking is trade out one of Rohan, Garlett or Kersten who ever is ready, move danger forward the upgrade one of my mids. That's the thinkin. Anyway.

Not thst keen on honeychurch but will watch in NAB. And also I think if Atley moves up the groun. Could be a great scorer and on your last point on swallow there isn't much risk with him, isn't going to drop below his avg of 78/79 last year so even if he can get up to 85-90 it is a positive result.

Chris Scott has basically confirmed that Simpson and HMac will share ruck duties and definitely won't play every game. So you'd have to count on HMac playing the majority of pre-bye games to get his price up then trade him. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-02-12/scott-cautious-with-big-cats

I would share doc's concerns about not having top players, you've got a number of good players but I would say only 8-9 that I think will be top keepers (Mitchell, Hanley, Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin, Beams, Dustmart, Franklin, Pav). Swallow, Dixon, Daisy, and Parker may all improve on their average but I still think will be outclassed in their respective lines. HMac and Sandi may well be top end players on ppg average but I doubt either will play a full season to be a true top keeper. I'm carrying Sandi but really just want him to see me to the byes and then I will trade him, unless he's flying and has no sign of injury... I'm not counting on him being a keeper.

Cant say that too many of the picks are horrible, just that youll be relying on a lot of things to go right. Will start well but might be left with quite a few guys that arent top 8/10 in their positions. I count 8 players id be confident will end up being keepers in their positions, and whilst other teams may start an extra rookie or two most teams seem to have 10-12 keepers, meaning up to 6 less trades to get the final team right.

Hey bud, here's my take on your team:
DEF: I really think you should have one of Swallow/Atley so you lack depth (-1)
MID: Strong, but who's your Capt wk 8/9 Daisy/Tyson? Problem (-1)
RUCK: Risky, you need to ditch HMac after what Chris Scott was quoted saying today (-1)
FWD: Weak, you need Danger @ D1, ditch Parker (-2)

5/10

Sit tight on that one.

The only issue is the potential lack if cash generation should the mid pricers just hold their own.

A playing rookie is going to make more money even with a crappy score.

But...you dont win league games due to cash generation. Points scored wins...just saying... :-\
