Hi all,  good luck to you all this year!
First time poster on this forum so hope im in the right area

Please have a look at my side and let me know what you think.
I really would like feedback on my rookies at this stage.
I have also focussed on DPP as this is what got my ranking so high last year. Most of my rookies are DPP

B: Mcveigh, S Mitchell, S Thompson, Swallow, M Suckling, K Kolodanshinj ( M Fuller, J Kelly)
M: Gaz, Pendles,Murphy , Beams, D Thomas, J Martin, L Mcdonald (def), L Dunstan (L Taylor, A Crouch)
R: B Grundy, A Sandilands, (D Currie, M King)
F: Danger, Dusty, Buddy, Pav, Caddy Impey  (Honeychurch, D Garlett)

I think I have a good balance throughout the team.

I would prefer J Selwood, Griffin or J Watson over M Murphy  however all came down to $$$.

Undecided on D Swallow or S Atley.  Went with Swallow for now simply due to DPP

Tough ask but hoping to go better than last year!

Cheers

Grufflez

Decent side mate but i think you could downgrade Mitchell and/or McVeigh and put that money into an extra premo in the forward line, dont think they will hold their value and should be available for 500k ish at some point, other than that i like it  ;)

Hey bud, here's my take on your team:

B: Good, Thompson good POD
M: Strong, who's your Capt wk 9?  (-1)
R: Risky...but I thinking of doing same
F: You gotta ditch Mitch, injured again, just doesn't bode well, Lamb too expensive (-2)

7/10

No too sure about the forward line. I think there are better combo's other than Rohan, Clark and Lamb. Free up some cash in the back line as Grufflez has said and inject it into the fwd line. I really like Caddy and my gut says he's a must.

Thanks for your feedback.
AndyWhis, after watching Caddy last night I have added him into my side.  Big pre season in the gym and looks set for a breakout year as will get more opportunity with the likes of Joel Corey retiring.

Team is now as follows after some changes:

B: Mcveigh, Mitchell, S Thompson, D Swallow, Suckling, Kolo, (Fuller, J Kelly)
M: Gaz, Pendles, Murphy, Beams, Thomas, J Martin, L Mcdonald, Dunstan (Crouch, Taylor)
R: Grundy, Sandi (Nankevis, King)
F: Danger, D Martin, Buddy, Pav, Caddy, Honeychurch (Garlett, Impey)

Im banking on Murphy, Beams & Daisy to make me 100k in the first 8 weeks or so and then look to upgrade to Jobe, Jelwood & Griffin.
Breakout year for both D Swallow & Caddy.
Lots of DPP helped me last yr so going down the same path where I can.

Not asking for much am I? =P

What do you think?  Team 1 or team 2?

Once again thanks for your feedback. :D

You have spent heaps in the backline, somewhere in SC that players don't score well. If your going to go with Swallow I would personally downgrade suckling to a rookie and upgrade one of Sandilands or Grundi.

For example, Put McDonald in the backline for Suckling, get a better rookie mid, then upgrade to Goldstein.

It is a bit intimidating dishing out advice to someone ranked so high last year but here goes anyway...

Have you considered Atley? Fickle -  ;D

Swallow - he isn't even the best in his family.

Personally I think setting at least 3 backs from the start is a good idea. This year the top defenders look a lot easier to predict than the forwards and these guys should score pretty well and consistently.

Grundilands should work but don't count on either as a keeper.

Not going to get sucked in by Caddy so quickly but will watch keenly.

Like the value selections in mids after top 2. Ideally a 3rd top line keeper would be better to save a couple of trades later but money is tight.

Like he DPP but not sure it is so important as to get a lesser rookie at this stage of the year. Nearer the byes new blood will need DPP.

Nice work, welcome and give a few 'rates' so we can get into your headspace and learn!

Great team but have a look at the byes make sure your not too heavily loaded with round 8 players like round 8 with pendles and gaz out your going to struggle to find a good caption option.
Im on the train of caddy if he can play in the mid and then rest down fwd and kick 2 goals a match should provide good value and can even be upgraded at some stage to super premo.
Personally id rather have mcdonald in the back only cos theres not many good defender rookies down there and you will prob need him down there though knowing that dpp play is an option.
In saying that your team is quite good loving the sandi grundy rucks thats my game plan aswell i hope sandi can hold up to the byes and trade him round 10.

Thanks,

Yea I understand where your coming from with moving L Mcdonald to the backline.  But he is DPP and allows me to either swap Mcveigh, S Mitchell or D Swallow through the midfield.  If I move Mcdonald to the backline, I wont have a mid-def DPP option in my midfield, which is a must have for me with the structure of my team.

A lot of people dont seem to be happy with the Grundy, sandi combo.  But Im gunna go with it pending Nab cup form.

keep the feedback coming guys, happy to rsate your teams if you post the link under your comments. :D

cheers for rating my side mate!

DEF: Very strong, I like it mate, McVeigh and Mitchell are locks, good unique choice in Thompson and hopefully swallow can breakout. Good rookies. 9/10

MID: Gaz and pendles are locks. Murphy, Beams and Thomas all value picks. Martin a good choice as he should get lots of games, DPP links to both defence and forward is good. 9/10

RUC: As a Collingwood supporter im a big fan of grundy but not as a SC'er, could pay off and make you money but won't become a premium, but if your in it for the cash then he will improve. Sandi good value pick. 7/10

FWD: Very strong, really like your line here mate, big fan of it. I have the first 3+ caddy. Pav will score higher than last year. 9/10

Overall: 34/40

[/quote]great perms but i don't like the rookies... yes they can change you will say but just don't like the last 4 in your mids (except Big Mac) but he needs to be back as a playing back rookie will be gold this yr.

Wheres Tyson, Michie, Dunston, Beams, Ellis etc etc... imo all are better than your last 3 mids

Rucks no drama there and have played with this myself thinking early on it could be a POD but it will be one of the main combos this yr.

Clarke will be no good come the start of the season... big gamble in Lambshops playing for the team he does. Hogan could be great but i think there is another Dees fwd who is cheaper and can score just as well.

O, i commented on the old team haha

disregard my comments about the players you no longer have

nothing really wrong with your new team other than its as cookie cutter as they get (other than Thompson)... that may not be a bad thing if thats how you like to roll but cookie cutter teams don't make the top 100

good luck

I like Atley as a point of difference in the backline.
You need to get L Mac into your backline taking Kolo's spot and replace Mac with a midfield rookie someone like Aish.
I've gone with the same setup as you in the rucks.
Like someone else said get rid of Clark, I'd go a couple different players other than Lamb and Rohan.
