Wouldn't surprise me if he started as the sub for the first few rounds tbh.  I'm not looking at him myself, at least for the first half of the year anyway.

Might be lucky to get a vest.

This would apppear a clear warning sign to stay away.

"Sylvia frequently missed targets by foot and struggled at time with his work-rate across the ground"

"The showing comes after several hiccups over the summer, with Sylvia told to improve his conditioning and training away from the main group for much of the pre-season"

Ricochet

Its kind of harsh on him because he's only been fully training for a couple of weeks. He'll start the season slow but come good later

I think he was better off with Roos in the demons. Freo are a fantastic team and their players have been elite, conversely Sylvia has been stuck in a side without a consistent coach and should of honestly stayed and rebuilt himself as a key component of the new demon's team. I'm predicting a huge turn around and Dom Tyson really looks like he's going to become a big name in football. Viv Michie is another to keep your eye on.

He was a star at the Dees but I don't think he can hold his own against Fremantle's already superior midfield & forward line. They really should have won the premiership last year and I think they'll win it this season. It's a huge change of environment for Sylvia in my opinion and he would've been better off staying or moving to either Adelaide teams, West Coast, Brisbane etc. Even then in terms of fittest he would still have to adapt but he would still be extremely significant.

I agree I don't see him getting a full game/achieving a good performance for a while  :-\

verdict:
Stay away for now bluesboy but like myself you should certainly keep an eye out for him. Could prove to be an even bigger bargain in the latter half of the season :)

Cheers mate! I agree could be a good POD if he comes home strong

Adamant

I've had him locked ever since I heard he was signing with Freo but actually hope he isn't named round 1 so I can downgrade him as I desperately need the cash.

Wouldn't read too much into the intra-club though, it's obvious he's lacking the fitness and match intensity to run out games after the injury.

The only reason he has just joined full training is because he rocked up completely out of shape. I'm sure he can bench good numbers but you actually need to be able to run.

Will either make or break him, completely up to him to show that he can play AFL footy over the next couple of years or just fade away, either way the lucky bugger is probably set for life!!! I'd imagine it would feel a lot better to leave on your own terms as a premiership player.

I agree in that I would have liked to see him help rebuild the dees,  but for me the move to the dockers makes sense. I think he can offer something to this freo team, another avenue to goal playing as a medium forward. The forward line is their only real weakness, I think he makes them a better side. Clearly a major reason he left is for a premiership and freo will go very close this year as opposed to the other teams you mentioned

Yeah I think Freo will most likely win this season. Freo are missing a elite half forward and I think if Sylvia gets into shape and grows acclimated to his new role they will dominate. He does offer a lot but who knows how long it'll take. Yeah I think his motivations for leaving was accolades and a raise but he is a fantastic player nevertheless, top draft pick as well and the Dee's star for many consecutive seasons :)

Ricochet

I don't think we were missing a half fwd, it was a key forward. That would allow Mayne to play a half fwd role.
I feel that Sylvia's main addition will be through the midfield.

Toga

Had him in my team hoping he'd be a nice POD but have now reshuffled as it seems there's a lot of negative feedback on him :(

jamfrank

I think he will struggle to get into the Freo side early in the season. At the moment, I'd say he'd be a like-for-like swap with De Boer, who Ross rates pretty highly.

As everyone else has said I've only heard negative things coming out of freo regarding Colin's pre-season.

Ricochet

De Boer plays more of a defensive role so I wouldn't say they are a like for like swap.

But yeh he is definitely behind the eight ball for round 1

fertalong

Had him locked since he was traded and up until 2 weeks ago. Now I need to look elsewhere for my F3.

Pav, Buddy, Dusty, Danger, even Wingard (risky but makes your team look cool  :P )? Even Caddy is looking good with his dpp or could take the risk and punt on Chappy :)
