Brisbane Rucks

Hey guys

Would like to know from the Brisbane supporters out there if they think Brisbane will play a second ruck to give Luey some rest time down forward during games.

Looking at a guy like Stefan Martin / Sam Michael as perhaps a decent ruck bench option

Brisbane will probably be playing 2 rucks Col but the second ruck looks like being West so unless injury intervenes can not see Martin or Michael getting games from round 1.

ahh ok thankx Ringo, didn't think West would be a great 2nd ruck option, doesn't strike me as the kinda guy who would be effective in the forward line

So we did.

Our ruck line up going into the year is Luey, West, Archie Smith, Sam Michael and Stef Martin in that order. My boy Sam Michael has been training with the defensive group, so should get a game when Maguire gets injured (probably round 2 or 3). Still start with Gun Michael though, will make you cash. I also think if Martin has another shower year, he'll get delisted.

You also need to remember that both Archie Smith and Sam Michael are on our rookie list so will not be promoted unless injury strikes.  Should that occur then would be the time to downgrade to whoever is promoted. Nrich is right in saying that Micheal has been training with the defesive group so will come in if injury strikes a defender or ruck in my opinion. He will be promoted before Archie Smith who will have some more time in the NEAFL and bear in mind he has only being playing AFL for 6 months.

Agree that Martin has to really do something this year to retain his position.

I have always thought that Stef Martin needs to shoulder the ruck load and and run his opponent around the ground to be effective. He is an undersized ruck, but he has a massive tank. When he has been asked to play at a key post at either end of the field he seems to struggle, it kind of reminds me of Mitch Clark when he was at the Lions. That year he was in the ruck he was AA but he struggled in a key post before having that good half season at Melbourne as the FF.

Depth. The guy is an absolute dud but behind Leuenberger they don't have much else when Longer bailed.
