Some interesting analysis on the mid-priced defender options from the newest AFL Fantasy and Real Dream Team fan blog site.

What do you reckon?

Personally Matt Shaw, David Swallow, Yeo and of course Suckling are guys I'm considering.

Nice read (and thanks for a new site!)
I would love to take the punt on Shaw, I have watched basically all of GC games and he is without  a doubt the most under rated player, he is going to be an absolute superstar (very biased towards him - I am a massive fan of the guy)
Also good to see that despite all those he covered, my smokey was still left out!

I was considering Armstrong myself.

Artax

With Shaw gone & Seedsman injured I am finding it really hard to pass up Armstrong.

Not Marley Williams?

Noz

Toovey, Lumumba, Williams, Young, Oxley, Seedsman, Schaz along with Armstrong there is just too heavy headed on spots in the Collingwood half back line.

No Seedsman, Oxley or Scharanberg early though...

A lot of those options are injured, Oxley, Seedsman and Scharenberg won't be ready for round 1. Lumumba and Young are also more likely to play on a wing in my opinion. There will be times they'll go back but they won't play there full time. I'm not sure Armstrong will play enough games, but he's one to watch

No worries. I agree on Shaw. He was pushing up to the wing a bit last season as well so that's a good sign for his scoring.

Interesting on your smokie? Got any hints for us on who he might be?

The series is complete now with the midfielders, rucks and forwards. Certainly a lot to think about and plenty of good options.

With Matera tearing up the intra the other day he seems like a sneaky forward mid pricer

He is less than $400,000 and has averaged 88 in his past 35 unsubbed games under his new coach and has a strike rate of hitting 90+ of 43% including 11 scores of 100+ in those 35 games. Prone to the odd shocker.
That should narrow it down? haha

NAB Squads are coming out this week so I guess we'll find out.

If fit I think he's almost a lock as he usually goes at around a 90 average. With the Dockers team as strong as it is I can see him doing very well this season.

ADEZ I'm not sure who you mean. By the sounds of it, it's someone who has moved club recently but the only players I can see there that haven't been covered are guys that I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.

Good luck with him though.
