David Swallow or Shaun Atley for D4?

Cant' be the only person out there trying to decide which one to recruit. Both have good arguments for breakout seasons in 2014.

Swallow easily for me, this is about the second pre-season where Atley is the standout on the track and didn't produce last time. I'm sure he'll step it up this year but doesn't look like ever becoming the 95+ averaging player he needs to be to become a keeper, while i believe Swallow has this potential.

Not an enormous fan of either, but if I had to choose would definitely go Swallow. High draft pick, rapidly improving team, potentially more midfield time.

I agree, Atley hasn't shown enough yet

hawkers summed it up perfectly. Swallow for me as well, currently have him at D4 in my team.

Neither for me as you need them both to be keepers at their starting price. I think both will average below 90 which is not good enough to be a keeper.

Bully

Be careful with Atley, I have no doubt he'll rack up plenty of the ball but he's been a serial butcher of the ball for most of his career.

Round 23 - 25 touches & 67 SC points
Round 18 - 17 touches & 57 SC points
Round 6 -  19 touches & 57 SC points

Now I predict he'll increase his 17 touches a match to something in the low 20's but I can't see that lifting his scores to anything resembling a defensive keeper. Some people compare him to a young Dangerfield, and stylistically that may be the case, but even Dangerfield took the long road to where he is today. For my money, he's better left alone for one more season, or at least until he can consistently churn out 100's.

I'd go with DSwallow, better chance of breaking out, imo.

Dayze

Swallow has the most upside.
But neither has really shown enough. I think we are all desperate for a breakout, our forward lines are more set and we don't wanna risk a breakout in our midfields.

Nab is going to b absolutely huge for swallow.
I wanna see him on ball from the opening bounce.
Any sign of half back shenanigans and I'm crossing him off

im hoping atley shows something in preseason as would love to jump on at is price ... but he would really need to stand out for me to pick him

im expecting swallow to go well this season but i am picking grimes over him at this stage

shaker

Swallow for me but are also keeping a close eye on Atley in NAB

Ricochet

I really like Swallow as a breakout contender this year. Not so sure on Atley at this stage
