Have people changed their mind on this???

Pav + $50K or Buddy?

I imagine the poll would be much tighter if it happened again now. Ive since managed to get both into my team but still considering going one or the other to start

Vinny

I'd still take Pavlich, got an uneasy feeling about Buddy.

Fid

Yeah I voted Buddy first up and then have gone Pav and now I'm considering Dahlhaus....

I just wonder with Pavs age and playing each week

Don't go Dahl, not rated highly here..

ubeaut

Yeah Dahlhaus won't get enough mid time I reckon. I have the Pav. Would love to fit both in still might depending on rookies.

On Buddy do people think that Goodes and Tippett out for  a few rounds will help or hinder him?

Less competition for a forward target- more goals for Buddy?
OR
More attention won't be able to roam up the ground for possies and he's an average contested mark?

I'm pretty sure Longmire said that Buddy would be spending the majority of games in the forward line, and not roaming up the ground like he did at the hawks

Pav has a brutal early fixture. Something worth keeping in mind.

I'm still on Budwood!

I currently have both but very little money to fix up rookies if they're not named, so will be culling one of these guys if my team doesn't line up round 1. Very, very tough call. But I'm leaning slightly towards Pav. Franklin's 23 vs the Eagles doesn't worry me from a number point of view, it worries me because it basically shows that if he's not being fed the ball he wont be doing anything. And if he's being fed the ball then there's already an elite midfield that will get points for the transitions - Buddy didn't seem to be used in a way that will get him generating his own points. Plus he's already competing for points with the guns the swans have. Still, conditions played a heavy role so perhaps I'm reading too much into it. But when you add that up with an interrupted preseason, the competition for points at the swans and the pressure that will come from needing to prove himself, he starts to look rather average.

Pav on the other hand, flying in preseason, looked pretty good against the doggies(!), and I really don't think there's much separating the two on "proven premium" status. Pav definitely tracking better at this point.

The concern that remains is that I don't think either of them will drop in price, they just might not fire and might not go up. But if they both fire and both go up, I can see buddy going up more than Pav. So if you end up wanting both, I think it's more likely that Pav will be the cheaper option down the track.

My internal poll right now is about 52% Pav, 48% buddy, with a 4% margin of error :P

Nice write up  BUT if you think they are both premium then surely start with Pav and use the $50200
elsewhere.

If he averages 100 then he will worth $534000 ish which means you have bought low.

Even if he averages 90 you'll have bought low.

If you don't think he will get 90's then don't get him because he will not be a keeper.

They COULD both be premiums, the question is will they? And I can't really split either way. But you make a good point about the price...
Pavlich is priced at 81, Franklin at 90. Pav could go 95-100 I think so you're gaining 15-20 points on his pricepoint. I can't see Buddy going 110, more like 100-105. So only a 10-15 point gain.

The only losing outcome is if Pav doesn't go up and Buddy does, but you're taking that risk with any of these picks really.

55% Pav, 45% Buddy

RaisyDaisy

I have Pav locked all season long, but all of a sudden I am starting to second guess myself!

What if he starts of scoring a few 60-80 scores like he has done last year? Buddy will play more up the ground which should assist him

LOL I am really second guessing everything now and wondering if I should now drop Pav and got with Buddy

this.

i'd def rather take Pav.
priced at 81, should go 90-95.

From observations on Saturday - With Sydneys tight marking I think Buddy will struggle with his natural game. Although he got 2 goals on Saturday and only played half a game bothe were scored when he had the match up on Merrett who could not run with him, whereas Clarke had him most of the first half and his influence was minimal as Clarke had the ability to run with him.

HotTiges

sort of a hijacking the thread.. throwing Gunston into the mix.. basically Pav vs Gunny.. Buddy, who knows..
