Pav V Bud

Would love to get both of these guys in but I simply cant afford to have 4 forward premiums. As long as Danger and Martin are still playing round 1 then they are automatic locks in my side which leaves just 1 place to fill.

Buddy is obviously a proven premium and still prime age to return to 100+ again. Coming off a poor season with the contract circus undoubtedly playing a big part, will he now be back to his best? Potential to be the best scoring forward in the game but has had a bit of an injury interrupted pre season with a tight quad keeping him from the match simulation games and theres the unknown of how he will perform in a new team on a smaller ground.

Then theres Pav. Had him behind Buddy all pre season, only really due to his age but then I hear a press conference with Peter Sumich claiming that its the best pre season he's ever seen him have and hes flying! Gumbleton comes into their forward line to relieve some of the pressure, Mayne demands attention and Freos small forwards will always be a handful so its not as if Pav is a lone wolf up forward anymore to be double and triple teamed.

Which way do I go?  :-\

Tough call, i had the same decision to make and went with buddy. Younger with a higher ceiling  and i think the SCG is only a couple of meters shorter than the G now with the new redevelopment, so ground size shouldn't be a factor.
Pav in ripping form is tempting, especially if he starts to play a riewoldt like role.

I would still back in Buddy though

They're both going to play well, that's a given.  But from a psychological pov I think Buddy has the edge, he'll be out
to prove he made the right decision and that he's still the best forward in footy. I think for the first time in a long time
his head will be in the right place.

Very tough, went buddy for exactly the rame reason as roni. he will be out to prove himself that he made the right decision. i reckon he will skyrocket

Buddy easily. His first year at Swanland and wanting to prove he is worth the contract. I think we will see Buddy better than he has ever been before because of this and that definitely makes him a lock. Cheers.   ;)

Ricochet

Tough one mate. Pavlich has had a ripper preseason and is one of the best (if not the best) fantasy key fwd of this generation. I'd probably still lean towards Buddy due to age and that everyone will have him so the risk is minimal.

Big Dawg

I've gone with Pav as I don't think the tight contested brand of footy the swans play suits buddy's game at all and he is unbelievably crap at taking a contested mark. That said, I bloody well hope he doesn't fire and im the only one without him.

Jroo

Hard to split them, Buddy is slightly better but Pav cheaper.
I think Pav he's cheaper and they should produce similar outputs, apparently he's going well this preseason, too.
@FantasyFreako: According to Peter Sumich the Pav hasn't missed a beat this pre-season and is in super shape! Get on! #AFLFantasy #SuperCoach #cheap

I think Buddy is the biggest lock in SC this season. Pav is enormous value and, as others have said, by all reports is having the best pre-season of his career.

The best players in the game bounce back from poor years. I would try really hard to get both but if I was to choose one, Buddy just.

i have been against pav all pre season ... but that report did sound alarm bells for me and made me take notice
his bye doesnt suit my forward structure as the player i would drop and adding pav would results in a 9/9/12 bye set up but i suppose can easily trade for the byes to rectify the stock up of round 10

9/9/12 is awesome man, remember through the byes you've got 3 trades each week so you can change 6 players in rounds 9 and 10... minimise round 8 byes, and then pick up players coming off their bye in round 9 and 10...

Buddy ahead of Pav. But I'm taking both ahead of having Dustbin to be honest. I'm well aware people will think that's crazy but the only true forward lock I think is Dangerfield. Buddy and Pav are super value for what they can do.

Thanks for the responses everyone.
Looks like Buddy is the favourite but that kind of makes me like Pav even more :P

Have people changed their mind on this???

Pav + $50K or Buddy?

tor01doc

I have certainly changed my preference - from Buddy to Pav and the cashola.

The other option is both. No decent rookies at low prices here (Honeychurch, Impey, Kerstan, Garlett all less than certain cash cows at this stage) and guys like Billings, Fasolo, Kennedy (B), Bock and Rohan also risky...and then there's Missy!

My cash engine room looks like it will be in the mids now which opens up F4 to a cheap premium like Pav.

Danger / Martin / not sure ($450 - 490K) / Pav / and whoever I can grab.

GoLions

I'm going with Pav, think he can produce a 95 average or higher, and at 437k, that's a bargain. Buddy is much less of a risk though as you would expect most teams to have him.
