Please rate my 1st draft. Any feedback would be welcomed. Forwards a bit light on, but don't want to sacrifice midfield strengths.

DEF  J Bartel, S Mitchell, P Handley, M Suckling, K Kolodjashnij, L McDonald (T Cutler, M Fuller)
MID   G Ablett, S Pendlebury, J Watson, T Cotchin, M Murphy, J Martin, V Michie, D Sheed (L Dunstan, M Honeychurch)
FWD   P Dangerfield, D Martin, L Franklin, J Hogan, J Billings, G Rohan (D Garlett, L Taylor)
RUCK   N Naitanui, A Sandilands (B Brown, T Nankervis)

Cash left $16,000

Any thoughts or improvements on overall team?

Also, I was toying with the idea of restructuring my backs to a more "mid price" look by trading out:

     Bartel & KK/McDonald

and bringing in:

     B Smith & D Nicholson/B Whitecross

Do you think this would improve my team?

Thanks in advance for any feedback given.

NO. Leave those backs. They are good.

WhiteX is still recovering I think.

I can't see how D Beams is not first picked in every team. Value +++.

I like your team but would swap Cotchin for Beams.

Yeah I agree with Tor01. Definitely leave the backs it's a very strong line up, trade Cochin for Beams and use the extra cash to buy in a stronger forward, see if Buddy is a possibility.

Jack

Thanks for your comments guys, I'll have another fiddle with the lineup and see how it stacks up. I've already got buddy, so I'll see who else is available with the cash leftover.

Cheers

Sorry mate, must have over looked him. With the extra cash consider  bringing in N.Bock, M.Clark or maybe Higgins in place of a rookie. A team is going to be pretty hard to finalize before the NAB cup so keep an eye out on which rookies perform well in that.

Jack

I've been fiddling again and come up with a team that's a bit stronger in the forwards and depending on your viewpoint, perhaps a little weaker in the mids. I'm not 100% convinced on Beams at this stage, so I've left him out at the moment, but as you're all aware, nothing's set until round 1. The team is:

DEF  J Bartel, S Mitchell, P Handley, M Suckling, K Kolodjashnij, L McDonald (T Cutler, M Fuller)
MID   G Ablett, S Pendlebury, J Watson, N Fyfe, L Parker, J Martin, V Michie, L Dunstan (J O'Rourke, M Crouch)
RUCK   N Naitanui, A Sandilands (F Thurlow, T Nankervis)
FWD   P Dangerfield, D Martin, L Franklin, J Gunston, D Garlett, M Honeychurch (J Kennedy-Harris, L Taylor)

Cash left $5,400

The changes are:

MID   Cotchin - Fyfe, Murphy - Parker, Sheed - O'Rourke, Honeychurch - Crouch
FWD   Hogan - Gunston, Billings - Honeychurch, Rohan - Kennedy-Harris
RUCK   Brown - Thurlow

What do you think, have I strengthened the side or not? Any further suggestions? In your opinion, are any of the rookies that I've drafted out keepers who I should get back in?

Thanks

No one knows with rookies yet, though I would say Crouch won't get a run. Honeychurch more likely but wait and see.

I think Cotchin and Murphy has more upside than Fyfe and Parker. Though I suspect you need some of that cash to make Hogan turn into Gunston. I still think Cotchin/Murph/Hogan is better than Fyfe/Parker/Gunston.

Beams - not 100% convinced?  :o
Last year he averaged 100, prior to the 60 in round 23 he was averaging 110. in 2012 he averaged 123, just behind Pendles and Swan, but played 21 games compared to their 18 each. The season prior he was in and out of the side but managed a 101 average from 14 games. He's priced at around 90 points. The one doubt in my mind is that Collingwood have a shocking draw... Feel free to leave him out if you wish, but I don't think he's going to get much more convincing...
