To me this is a tough choice!

Both Similar Price, Both have their injury concerns, Both in their respective teams best 22

Swallow:
Yet to really prove anything in the DT world his averages have actually dropped over the years (76.3 in 2011, 73.8 in 2012 and 69.6 in 2013) and yet people say he is gonna have a breakout year? Confusing.

Suckling
IF he can avoid the vest and isnt put in cotton wool he should get back to his proven scoring ability. Should average around 85 if he gets full game time,

Cheers guys

Adamant

Suckling by a mile. Much cheaper and I'd back him in to average higher.

In saying that, I've got Swallow as well at the moment.

I am leaning towards Suckling but if Swallow does get some midfield time, having him as a defender could be a huge bonus scoring wise.

Still undecided

is that the sole reason for all of his selections?
I'm looking at his past figures (or mainly 2013) and he's mainly used as a defensive role down back
with people like Martin (and Gaj, Jaeger, Prestia) in the midfield, is he really going to be playing there that often?
not too sure about his selection

I reckon it must be because im not too sure why people will be selecting him if his stats are anything to go by.
Yeah agreed that midfield is gonna be really hard to get some serious time in

Even though I reckon Swallow will breakout this year, Suckers is more proven. Easy choice

Okay so i wasn't convinced by this bloke before the NAB challenge but after a very good game followed by Guy Mckenna (bluey) saying he will spend most of 2014 in the midfield he somehow found his way into my team.

I am thinking that if i drop him to R. Shaw, i could afford to upgrade one of L. Dunstan, D. Tyson or C. Beams to probably Cotchin. However would my backline be a little weak with (Mcveigh, Mitchell, Simpson, Suckling, Shaw, Mcdonald)

So i was just wondering how many other people are gonna start with him? Is he worth it? Will he make much money? Will he be a top 6 defender?

Cheers Guys!!

When Swallow was drafted at #1 a few years back, Champion Data rated him incredibly high, and i think going into his 4th year which is generally when players start to find their feet, people are expecting him to realise his enormous talent. In time he will be like his brother and become a gun inside mid, and one of GCs most important players.
I think his injury troubles the last couple of years may have affected his confidence, but from all reports his preseason has been great and if he is earmarked for more mid time he should easily score more than hes priced at.
And after watching Martin, i dont think he has the build for a permanent mid role, too skinny. I think more likely half forward or half back and stints in the middle. Everyone's comparing him to Jaeger, but Jaeger was built like a brick showerhouse in his first year...

In saying all that, i have both Swallow and Suckling locked. They both have potential to be top 10 backs and for their price are great picks

Another reason that ppl are jumping on David in his 4th year is because that was when his brother Andrew had his breakout year.

fertalong

I have both locked as well.

Suckling is too much value to ignore, though I think he will start slowly as he regains match fitness.

Swallow can only improve and in my opinion, will avg about 80-85 this year. That's good enough to sit at D6 or be a last upgrade before finals.

RookieDTer

When the coach says a fourth year player with a gun brother will spend more time in the midfield, and that guy had an 'average' year last year.....

So for the Round 1 Free Hit I need a defender for under 400K (just for this round I'm thinking).

Is Swallow my man? Or would someone like Nick Vlastuin, Matt Suckling be better for this week?

Mavro88

i noticed swallow starting on bench,, so hopefully isnt on there for to long
or they change on the the day
