i had sort of ruled ellis out because he seems like the sort of player similar to gaff in the fact that he will lost liekly get sat on by opposition teams. howver an interesting article has got me thinking he might be a bit different: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/2014-01-30/ellis-eyes-inside-role.

its a big risk to take and even though he is cheap he is apart of that dread round 8 bye unfortunately. But is he worth it. he will most definately cop the tag from armfield in round 2. but im not sure about any of the other teams pre-bye. food for thought.

I still think he will get the majority of the ball on the outside as its where he played well last year. As such he will be easier to close down and as a result will stay well clear. He has never been an appealing option to me despite being potentially underpriced. I think he will average 80-85 for the year meaning he's not a keeper and nor will he earn much cash.

Ellis is underpriced and will improve his average. But I'm finding it hard to fit him into my side, especially with a round 8 bye. Also when he has been tagged in the past he hasn't dealt with it well and that's concerning. With a midfield of Cotch, Lids and Dusty you wouldn't expect him to get tagged too often, but some teams will go to him, as his run and carry can be very damaging.

As JR008 said, hard to see him getting a regular tag over Cotchin, Lids and Dusty.

In terms of a fantasy pick, there is just too much value elsewhere in the midfield to pick him. Can't fit him in and picking young players after their first big year is too risky imo

The potential tag isn't the problem with Ellis, the problem is the round 8 bye.

Artax

I really want him in but the round 8 bye is a problem as I have Gary, Pendles & Beams.

Rather than being actually assigning a run with player to Ellis specifically I think opposition coaches will put thought into how to stop his influence, and other players will be more mindful of his running patterns, where he gets the ball etc and as a result I see his scores dropping from last years unsubbed average. A players output can be quietened without assigning a specific run with player to them.
