Hi all,
Had an up and down season last year. Had the 4th highest score in the nation in round 11 and ended up losing my last 5 out of 6 games!
Anyway go your hardest and give me the truth...I can handle the truth!

Backs- McVeigh,Mitchell,Hanley,Hurn,Swallow,Suckling (Fuller-McDonald)

Mids- Pendles,murphy,Beams,Thomas,Caddy,Martin,Michie,Garlett (Dunstan-M.Crouch)

Rucks- Grundy,Sandilands (BBrown-Nankervis)

Fwds- Dangerfield,Martin,Wingard,Buddy,Fasolo,Rohan (L.Taylor-Impey)

$17,900 left.

POD= Grundy over Nic Nat to save some coin. Fasolo has looked very good at pre season. Also like what I have been hearing about Hurn at the Eagles.

Fire away lads!  Thanks in advance....

That back half is stacked. The only downside with going that route is that the backs generally put up the least points at the top end of any line. You might be better off downgrading one of Mitchell/Hanley/McVeigh to either a rookie priced guy (Laidler) or going a mid priced option like Hansen who smashed the back end of last season (91 average minus sub games). You can then use that cash to upgrade Caddy in the midfield. I think you need to start with Ablett and I personally am not a fan of starting any young Geelong mids as they are so susceptible to being an orange vest candidate. The Cats won't hesitate to give the younger guys the vest as they have shown with Christensen and Duncan the past few seasons. Caddy is the guy to get out of there.

I like Grundy as an option, especially at his price considering he will shoulder most of the ruck load.

Thanks very much Mat, I really do like the suggestion of yours.
Grundys the smokie...has put on 6kgs and looked good in today's intra club match.
Cheers!!

Sacked backline, could probably get away with downgrading one.  Mids are good, but I think you need another premium, looks a bit weak with Murphy, beams, Thomas at M2,3,4. Personally would prefer caddy in the forward line as well. Like the grundy POD, could pay off. Forwards are solid as well. I'd downgrade a back, swing caddy into the forwards, and grab a premium mid. Good looking side so far, just those couple of things could be improved. Cheers

Thanks Benno-rearranging backline as we speak.
Looking at putting the extra $$ into mids.

The Pelican

That backline is incredible. But it is too strong and there is Kolojashnij who is great. One of Suckling or Swallow get diwngraded to Kade Kolojashnij. Use the money to upgrade Thoma/Murphy/Beams to a super premium. You could even downgrade a forward so that Grundy can be taken out for Lobbe

Maggie May

Def:  Strong, perhaps too strong.  You could afford to downgrade one to be able to spend money in other areas.
Mid:  Looks a little weak.  I can understand the theory, given the strength of the rookies, but I think your at least 1 premium short.  If you downgrade one of Swallow or Suckling, you could use the cash to upgrade Caddy.  I would definitely look into the possibly of getting Ablett in as well.  Your choice, but dangerous leaving him out given he's SC prowess.
Ruc:  I have the same starting ruck combination.  Risky but should consistently play barring injury, and allows you to spend cash in other areas.
Fwd: Strong.  I like it.  If you need cash, you could look at downgrading Rohan though to a rookie, someone like Honeychurch or Markworth.  You could also look at moving Garlett fwd.

You have a good foundation so it is just about looking into a way to get Gaz into the side. Rookies will put their hands up for selection in the pre-season comp but guys like Rohan and even Ben Brown I really like for their price.

Def: I think your defence is too strong which has weakened some other positions on the ground.I have seen Sucling at B6 in many teams you need a rookie in that position. Downgrade either Huen or Swallow.
Mids: This is where you need to upgrade Caddy for a premium. If you want Caddy move him to the forward line otherwise just leave him out Other Players look fine.
Rucks: Risky but may pay off
Fwds: Get Rohan out of this team and bring a in  Rookie who will play early games without wearing the Vest.

Teams is very unbalanced too strong up back and weak in others e.g Midfield. give it a 6.5/10

nperera95

Def: Ahhh wow....hahaha. Extremely strong. Nothing else to say really.
Mids: A bit weak. Would want Murphy as your M3/M4, not M2. Would try and get ablett in there if possible.
Rucks: Pretty courageous selections of Grundy and Sandilands. Risk = Reward. If these two play decent, consistent footy, you deserve a pat on the back for taking that risk.
Fwd: pretty strong forward. First side I've seen with all three of players of Dangerfield, Martin and Wingard! Not too sure on the Rohan pick though. Keep a close eye on him throughout the nab cup.

Overall, I'd probably downgrade one in the defense like swallow/Hurn for a rookie and then upgrade caddy to a premium. But other than that, you've done pretty well! :)

Really like your ruck combo been thinking of a similar setup. As the others are said strengthen your mids and weaken your backs a little.

A sincere thanks to all who have rated my team.
Good luck fellas in 2014.

I really like your team, very strong, IMO caddy hasnt been given enough game time to break out, but he will have a regular spot down at the catery, shannon hurn will play every game but is a big risk and hasnt proven him self, and swallow will be a gun, Blues will be looking at thomas and keeping him very safe
Over the NAB cup your team will shape up more so good luck to you.
Defence : full of risk 7/10
mids: could be stronger 7/10
Ruck: 8/10 Love your Combo but i dont think Grundy will break the 500k range and will take 2 trades to upgrade
Fwds: WOWEE very strong! 10/10
overall 8/10

I like it mate. Obviously weak defenders but it allows you lots in other positions.

Grimes - Swallow.
I prefer swallow

I think that you need Pendles. So Watson - Pendles. Having Cotchin  makes one too many Rd8 bye mids so I would look at a rookie for him. Like dom Sheed and the. Use the money to upgrade either KK to Hankey or someone and or Caddy to a prem.

Good luck.
