Bones Bombers

He has a spot in my team, although I have looked at life without him.
Has anyone seen him in contact training yet? He needs to get used to being tackled and jumping for marks etc without worrying about the knee.
People are saying he's fit but when watching videos I haven't seen him competing in full training. He is doing most training.

He's such a low risk pick it's silly not to pick him.
1) he's a proven scorer
2) he's cheap as chips
3) everyone will have him

Find your PODs elsewhere, this one is a low risk must have imo

Id argue that he isnt that proven, 2 full seasons, one averaging 91, his last full season averaging 83. 83 in his last full season isnt an amazing return, and coming back from a year out of the game with a major injury wouldnt expect him to have the best season of his career. Would need to average 95ish to be a keeper/top 8 def, thats 12 more than his last season, after a year out.

he is pretty cheap, but at over 300k I want not just 100-150k price rise but a potential keeper, and as I expect him to get better as the season goes on, like most players returning from a year off, I dont think he will hit his peak price quick and early.

He is still well worth consideration as there arent many back mid price or rookie options, but not an absolute necessity.

The thing with Suckling is he virtually just appeared onto the scene for a huge breakout year after only a handful of games in his first 4 or so years, which obviously is very hard to back up which almost saw him suffer 'second' year blues. Obviously it wasn't his '2nd' year but that term usually only applies to young guys which had a great and full season prior to the decrease, which is kind of what happened to Suckling. If he hadn't injured himself, no doubt he would have gone 90+ again last year and really push close to the 95-100 range this year with his role and attributes. But now that he was injured he won't go near this and instead is good for a 85 average IMO. Previous seasons would suggest this wouldn't warrant a starting position but with the limited rookies he is a must and people will find a few other 'underpriced' guys will become locked too due the rookie situation.

Again i'll say 'He is absolute ball magnet with a pin point left boot who can kick 60m goals and chips the ball around the backline racking up cheap stats... What more do you want from a guy who is only 300k... At worst he is your bench cover for the season, but also has the potential to be a keeper. His price allows you to take a better structure heading into round 1 with only 1 back rookie player. The guy is an underrated jet, who should slot straight into Guerra's role (taking the kick outs too!) and he won't get tagged as often as Birch from the opposition fwd line'

Speculator

He's in my side at the moment but I must admit I don't think he will average 90+. I don't think he is a must.

EDIT: Copy and Pasting doesn't seem to working, so here is the article about Suckers, good news for him and lets hope he can get up round 1!

http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/2014-02-07/suckling-gets-through-intraclub-unscathed.workstation

MATT SUCKLINGs return from a knee reconstruction is edging closer after the lethal left-footer got through unscathed in Fridays intra-club match at the Ricoh Centre.

The 25 year old hasnt played since March last year but appeared unhindered by his reconstructed knee, impressing in his first hit-out under match conditions in eleven months.

Speaking to hawthornfc.com.au after the practice match, Suckling said he hasnt been concerned with his knee for some time as his return date edges closer.

Ive been lucky that I havent thought about the knee for about a month now so out there I wasnt thinking about it at all, he said.

It was more the heart and lungs that were blowing up - as far as the knee goes, its fine Im not thinking about it.

Suckling could make his long awaited return in two weeks, with the Hawks scheduled to play North Melbourne in Tasmania on 21 February, the second of the Clubs NAB Challenge matches.

General Manager, Football Operations, Chris Fagan said on Monday the defender is unlikely to feature against the Lions in the opening NAB Challenge match on Thursday night but is a genuine chance to face the Kangaroos.

Got it to work, need to remove all of these ' plus " as well as these -

Suckling and Daisy are almost my top picks, I'm picking daisy over pendkes or Rocky just because how much value he represents.

Best case scenario they both turn into keepers worse case they aren't far off and it's a double trade to a super premo.

eaglesman

traded him out today ... have too see him live and in the flesh for me to believe it at this stage

happy to imagine life without him in my side at the moment

Vinny

I don't think Suckers will fire as expected but he still a 100% lock because I'm too scared I'm wrong. :P

By the way, Daisy will go 111.

eaglesman

just wanna see these blokes play ... all this is doing me head in haha ...

What are peoples thoughts now on Suckling? Have they changed at all?

I'm just thinking, I seriously see him averaging around 80-85, so if that happens then his not a keeper and he will only make about 100k or so

A rookie can make 200k+. I know his JS and ability to score makes him appealing, but I really am thinking about not starting him. Daisy is more or less the same price and should score way more then Suckers which is why I'll be starting him but not just convinced Suckers is a must, especially is guys like Laidler, Langford, Cutler, Clurey, Langdon etc get games early
