Is Suckling a must?

I know hes pretty cheap but in 2012 he only averaged in the 80's.. If I use the cash to pick up another rookie, I can upgrade Dale Thomas (another I think is getting way overhyped) to a midfield gun

What are your thoughts guys?

Not a must, in your situation I like keeping Thomas in the side. Suckling not necessary though if you can improve your team structure in other places.

Lookin pretty light on for the defense rookies mate.
If there were plenty of rooks then go for it.
But he would b a very solid d4/5 until at least the byes.
Good job security. Should average 85.
Possibly 90. Normally plays a pretty friendly SC role aswell. The hawks love the ball in his hands.

Dayze

I see suckling as a fair bit better option than daizy tbh.

Daizy will raise his price to what? 470-480
Gonna b tough to use that as a stepping stone to a proper midfield prem.
Going to probably require two trades

If suckling can get up to 450 he is a genuine chance to straight swap to a fallen back line prem.
I think ur better off with a rookie than daizy.
I'm sure most will disagree tho judging by everyone's teams.

Id pick Suckling to average about 80, as he has never averaged much more than that, whereas Daisy, if he starts the season fit and average 105 at a similar price. In saying that I have a stacked backline right now with Grimes at D5 as I dont like suckling or the back rookies.

perhaps Daisy to a rookie and Suckling to a gun?...may be more options for cheaper mids who will have JS.. :-\

Dayze

Pretty sure suckling averaged 90 few years ago bud..

Suckling is a must IMO.
He should become a keeper and at that price he's a steal.
Everyone will have him, so if you don't and he scores well you will be left behind.

Yeah just over 90 in 2011 and 82 in 2012 think at his price he is a must but lets see how he goes in the NAB cup

He really helps for structure I think, allows you to get away with just one onfield rookie. If he can increase his price to 400+ good chance you'll be able to find someone to swap him with straight up which would be handy.

A must as far as I'm concerned. At that price, for a go who will average anywhere from to 85-95, with the likelihood of it being closer to the 95 mark. Can't say no to that.

He is only 25 and no doubt if he had not got injured last year, i'd expect him to be pushing the 95-100 mark this year. He is absolute ball magnet with a pin point left boot who can kick 60m goals and chips the ball around the backline racking up cheap stats... What more do you want from a guy who is only 300k... At worst he is your bench cover for the season, but also has the potential to be a keeper. His price allows you to take a better structure heading into round 1 with only 1 back rookie player. The guy is an underrated jet, who should slot straight into Guerra's role (taking the kick outs too!) and he won't get tagged as often as Birch from the opposition fwd line. Just lock him in for god sake!

Not a lock.
And I don't like it when people say "you'll be left behind" if one certain player scores well.
That is shower.

He'd have to score 150+ in the first few weeks for you to be left behind before you would trade him in.
And that wont happen. Can't see him scoring 90+ average.

And what if he doesn't do so well and you didn't pick him - a win and a trade saved for you. Plus the player you pick instead of Suckling might just do well.

If he is fit, firing in the pre season comp, is proven to have a friendly role and fits into your team structure - only then is he a lock.

He is fit and has been for a while now and wil 100% take Guerra's which is certainly friendly. So on your words he must be a lock... What are your reasons behind him not even going 90? You kind have just said it with no reasoning? Love to hear your thoughts.

Yes, he possibly could do poor, but even if he did he would still make cash because he s priced at only 300k. More than likely if you don't start him, you'll miss 100-150k made and having to start a second back rookie who won't play or sacrifice another line. Just my thoughts,
