8 Rookie Midfield

It all depends on the value/ scoring potential of the rookies.

If his midfield rookies are pumping 30+ ppg more than his def/ fwd and have better JS, it could work. Honestly, the vest is the only reason why it wouldn't... but that is a big one.

Every year I try to explain this, and every year people don't seem to get it. It doesn't matter where you stack your team, the magic number dictates that across the board players will be priced at their average from last year... the trick is to find players to increase their average, avoid players who decrease and to get the best scoring rookies.

at least 1 midfield premium is necessary for captaincy, and preferably 2 for a VC or loophole option, but really, it comes down to where the points are, and JS is. For instance, if there's 8 midfield rookies who all have great JS/ scoring potential, but there's only 2 backs and 2 forwards with ok JS/ scoring potential, then you're better to load your forward/ backline with guns and go a midfield rookie strategy. Rookies aren't priced at their averages, and subsequently by fielding the higher scoring ones you're circumventing the limitations and restrictions the MN puts on your team, as well (in this scenario), by having more rookies make more money and top out faster, since you'd be stuck with dead weights on your fwd/ back bench.

Basically, you've got to crunch the numbers and JS of the rookies and make a judgement call. I think it could work, but you'd want to be damn certain before trying it. It's not really worth much consideration pre-nab cup anyway.
