According to the age Paul Seedsman has had hip surgery and will miss up to 6 weeks.

QuoteCollingwood defender Paul Seedsman has had hip surgery and will miss the start of the home and away season.
Seedsman had arthroscopic surgery on his hip last week after suffering pain in the joint while running through the pre-season.

Collingwood football manager Rodney Eade said the operation was minor and that Seedsman would be fit to resume by mid-March.
"He was training well but had a problem in his hip that was impinging on his running," Eade said.

"He could have gone through the season with it but we felt my-mid year he would have had to down load and cut his training and that would have most likely impacted on his playing.

"It is still early in the season so we felt it was best to have the surgery now and it is only a six week off and we can get him back into full training again."

The 22-year-old should be back to playing in the VFL by mid-March.

Seedsman, a pacy running half-back with an ability to break through the lines, has played 28 games since debuting in 2012. He played 18 games last year and had a career high 34 disposals and 15 marks in the loss to Port Adelaide in round 14.

An elegant eye-catching player with a raking kick he has been looked at as a player to improve this year by developing consistency within games.

Recruit Patrick Karnezis from the Lions is also being treated for osteitis pubis while the club's first draft pick last year, Matthew Scharenberg - No.6 overall in the draft - is being managed for foot problems that the club was aware of when he was recruited last year.

Mr.Craig

Bit unfortunate. I agree that it's better to have the surgery now than let it linger.

So if he was a lock in Pies 22... who replaces him?

Armstrong ;D

QuoteHaving impressed with his application on the training track throughout the off-season, Tony Armstrong will be looking to edge closer to his 50th AFL appearance in 2014. Having established himself across half back whilst with Adelaide and Sydney, Armstrong's incisive kicking ability and pace will make him a key contender to assume a berth in the Magpies back six.

Unfortunate for the young bloke and I feel for him, but takes away my dilemma of whether to pick him for starting side in SC, AF & DT this year ...

Flower!  >:(
I had Seedy locked in my defence in DT, looks like I need to find a replacement.
Expect Williams, CYoung to cement a spot in the side now.

Toovey's returning from injury so he needs a spot. Maybe it opens the door up for Dodgy Feet Shaz or Armstrong.

+1 - interesting to monitor now ... I had him and Williams fighting for Heater's role ...

QuoteArmstrong and Young, who could only manage two games for Collingwood last season, used the ball with clinical efficiency, while Magpie fans were pleased to see Taylor Adams in action for the first time for the club.

"I thought White and Armstrong were very good," Eade said. "...and I thought Young and Armstrong's kicking really stood out."

Tony is taking Seedy's spot! ;D

Ah right. Bugger :P

I have had him in WXV since the start, hopefully it will finally pay off since I took him with my 16th pick so was expecting big things from him...

Torpedo10

I got Seedsman via trades in BXVs.  :(
