Do you think Rampe is still best 22? With Shaw, Johnson, LRT wanting to return to the backline Rampe has to fight hard for his spot! Rampe won a 3km time trial this pre season but other then that I haven't heard too much about him lately. Would LRT really come straight into the team if fit? Do we really need another tall player given we have Reid, Tippet, Buddy, Pyke etc.?

Rampe isnt a tall. 187cm. He will be competing with the Johnsons, Shaw, Laidler etc in the backline. He is borderline best 22 imo.

LRT is going to be really interesting. Wont play as a FWD, but most likely a key defender to take the resting ruck, or running round as the backup ruckman

Love him, but i cant find room for him in best 22 either right now

Mr.Craig

I'd back Johnson in to return to the role he had in 2012 if he's fit. I'm not sure where that leaves LRT in the whole scheme of things.

Rampe...I don't know if he's best 22 now. It may be a case of the Swans looking at individual opponents and if they think they need more run in a game they pick him over Reid (obviously they play at different ends of the ground, it would just mean someone like a Parker or Mitchell would play a bit further up the ground). I could definitely still see him playing games but it might be more in the 10-15 bracket for the season. At least that's my take on the situation as an outsider looking in.

With Swans working out what to to do with Sam Reid and if used back does this pit a dampener on Rampe and LRT.

Its hard to say to Rampe that you arent in the best 22 after the way he played last year though.

Fuzz read this thread and tell us what you think the best lineup for the Swans will be this year

Rampe got a mention in this article about his good pre-season form- 'Dane Rampe, Toby Nankervis and Harry Marsh were some of the youngsters to show good signs'.

I don't think LRT is really needed if Reid is down back and Tippet can do the FWD rucking.
If Johnson takes a bit longer to be fit then expected I hope Rampe will come into the team.
It's a strong team no doubt, so much so that I think Sam Reid's position in the team might be in jeopardy if he cannot perform well as a defender.

Mr.Craig

Does Reid have any chops as a defender though? I don't know.

Will see what happens but I still am not convinced that Reid plays down back.
