I've probably missed something, but why can't we just use the end of year SuperCoach prices as a bases for our salary cap?
     It's more reflective of SC fantasy relevance then the actual AFL salary.

Because its a rolling average formula.

So the last few rounds matter greatly for example.

Bont 107 average priced at 590k
Pendles 118 average priced at 580k
hanners 110 average priced at 490k

also the multipier drops so if someone averaged 100 leading into the season and scored 100 every week their price would drop throught the season.

so Beams 612k 3rd most expensive in the comp.

Sandi 587K, apparently better then Pendles.

So what about the prices at the start of the season instead?  Would they work better?

The end/start of year prices go weird for players that have missed a large part of the season or only played a few games. There's always a few players that way under priced because of injury, and always a few players that are over priced because of a one-off great season

3 years seemed a decent run, what I could do is weight it so that the most recent year is worth 2 years....

That changes things a bit...... These would be the biggest winners:

And going back to Holz comments, and using the original price I came up with, where youth can be disadvantaged because of going back 3 years...

I've added a 20% boost to all players price if they have improved upon (or stayed the same) average for the last 3 years...

I'm just playing around atm...

looking at the midpriced players, has given them a bit of a boost...

Probably a bit too much ambiguity with that. Defining if and how a player has improved is purely speculation and one persons opinion. Reckon we need to use cold hard facts/stats

I have O'Meara and Viney both priced at $600k... which seems fair, given Viney averages less but O'Meara hasn't played in 2 years. Who has the bigger upside? I certainly can't tell.

true im definately not saying the 18 year olds needs to be pricey.

its more the 22-26 year olds guys. then expenonentially a greater discount as they get older. So a 26 year old full price. 27

29 maybe 95%
30 92%
31 88%
32 84%
33 80%
34 75%

I don't really buy into the whole equality thing because there isn't a comp in the world that has everyone on a level playing field and that's simply because there isn't enough top players to go around all teams

We've seen teams go up and down, and that's done through the coaches vision and ability

Like meow said earlier, it's the coaches direction which puts them in the position they are in - not the cap

And that's a fair point, it may not be worth changing. I got excited when the numbers I pulled out actually reflected the ladder a bit, something the points cap has struggled with at times.
