Holz wants it so it's probably a bad idea. No mid season trading it is.

I do but the main reason is for PNL.

my ally.

So they can trade their 'old guys' to you so you can keep winning?

Yeah nah, nice try mate.

Ringo

How about we revert to our 45 players per list and then have a mid season draft involving left over players plus any delisted players to keep lists at 45. May not work though but also do away with rookie lists as well.

Lists are already at 45 per team, with about 6 having 46

Rookie lists are something to talk about though

Ricochet

How about we leave everything as it is now?

Hellopplz

Just saying, don't think we've ever actually traded any players with Holz :P.

+1 (and doubt we actually will ever get one over the line TBH)

i still personally think it would be too messy to have a mid week trade period and actually for the comps sake think we shouldn't have one unless it was heavily regulated

on  a personal and team level - i just like talking trades...lol....so any reasont o dot hat is good for me hence event he thread idea

ok So Matt kennedy debuting was very exciting.

Silvagni not as much but was very very happy.

however this next guy not as much from a fantasy perspective (yet) but from a personal perspective is the best debut of any player in the AFL this year.

amazing story of a guy who as a kid escaped the war and spent 4 years in a refuge camp in Kenya. Absolutely loves the game and can name every single player in the AFL just with club and jumper number. Huge fantasy fan as well.

Stoked he gets his shot at the AFL and i really hope he goes well.

will probably end up being my favorite player not in a north or cats jumper.

You clearly don't love him enough to get his name right though.  :P

Just musings and thinking outside the box a bit, to add a random element of 'weather' to the system

Average temp and rainfall for July for each city (chose July cos I couldn't be bothered going longer, and it seems the middle)

   July Temp   July Precipitation
New Delhi   35   237
Cairo   34   1
Beijing   31   176
New York   29   117
Tokyo   29   154
Seoul   27   383
Toronto   27   64
Pacific   26   125
Rio de Janeiro   25   42
PNL   25   62
Berlin   24   56
Mexico City   24   70
London   23   41
Moscow   23   94
Dublin   20   56
Cape Town   18   100
Buenos Aires   15   66
Christchurch   11   68

Cold teams: PNL, Berlin, Mexico City, London, Moscow, Dublin, Cape Town, Buenos Aires, Christchurch

Hot teams: New Delhi, Cairo, Beijing, New York, Tokyo, Seoul, Toronto, Pacific, Rio de Janeiro

Wet teams: Seoul (!!), New Delhi, Beijing, Tokyo, Pacific, New York, Cape Town, Moscow, Mexico City

Dry teams: Christchurch, Buenos Aires, Toronto, PNL, Berlin, Dublin, Rio de Janeiro, London, Cairo

So... let's say before every match (well before the match starts), each game is given a random (50-50) chance of being a 'hot' or 'cold' game, and a random (50-50) chance of being a 'wet' or 'dry' game. Not actually going to use actual forecasts, because who can be bothered, and makes it almost impossible to be fair.

If a match does not suit your natural conditions, this happens:

Hot or Cold: Need 2 midfielders on the bench to avoid a 50 SC point start to the other team
Wet or Dry: Need to either flood or attack to avoid a 50 SC point start to the other team

So, let's say the start of a match is 'Hot' and 'Wet':

If your team is:
Hot / Wet : No action required, do what you like
Hot / Dry : In order to avoid a 50 point start to the other team, you need to adjust to the Dry conditions by either flooding or attacking
Cold / Wet : In order to avoid a 50 point start to the other team, you need to adjust to the Cold conditions by having 2 midfielders on the bench
Cold / Dry : In order to avoid a 100 point start to the other team, you need to adjust to the Dry conditions by either flooding or attacking, and adjust to the Cold conditions by having 2 midfielders on the bench

Yep, likely too complicated, but just having a think...

I god damn love that idea. Love it!

But I doubt the consensus would agree to this added complexity to Worlds  :(

Let's say, hypothetically, this were to happen, then I think we remove the Attack/Flood limits? Also, does this replace HGA? So like, if it's a Berlin home game, and we are a Cold & Dry team, meaning that's our home environment, we put the responsibility on the opposing teams to adjust to our conditions?

I think it would be in additional to HGA (crowd, ground size, etc). But the way I set up the weather conditions was that it didn't really matter if you were the home team or not (which isn't realistic I know).

Yeah, I'd think you would remove the attack/flood restrictions.

Trying to keep it simply complex :p, without having to look up actual weather forecasts every week lol

Torpedo10

So how would we know what the weather is if we weren't using real forecasts?

A good concept, but complications may be a little too much.
