And at least it doesnt look so stupid for us now trading myers for warnock ( though myers can come back no one bringing robbie back..lol)

yesterday I was starting to regret Watson Boak Bruce Holmes for Jroo Murphy.

This deal looks absolutely terrible

Trade 59
Rio de Janeiro trade: Jobe Watson + Pick 12
Christchurch trade: Picks 2, Pick 26 + Pick 46

basically lost Jacob Hopper

Pretty glad I traded out Stanton in the end  :-X

Maybe Ryder's absence might help Dixon out a little?   :-\

DazBurg

Sooooo trade week is still open and we hot some players that can fill holes  ;)

Purple 77

Well, I reckon we will have a draft out of any top up players selected.

But, will there be top up players for Port Adelaide, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs and Melbourne?

If no, then that means there won't be enough players to go around, so only the teams that lost the best players will get first dibs on them.

I reckon, in order of value, I have them roughly at:

Dyson Heppell
Michael Hurley
Paddy Ryder
Cale Hooker
Brent Stanton
Jobe Watson
Michael Hibberd
Ben Howlett
Stewart Crameri
Jake Carlisle
Tom Bellchambers
Travis Colyer
Angus Monfries
Jake Melksham
Heath Hocking
Tayte Pears
David Myers

But, for the meantime, lets see the events that play out in the next few days

AFL has confirmed EFC can top-up and promote all its rookies. Melbourne, PA and, St Kilda and Bulldogs can only upgrade rookies with immediate effect.

Well, there you go.

Jay

95ave back > 105ave mid in my opinion  :-X

Doesn't really matter though, both massive losses.

RaisyDaisy

Come on, Belly is not that low.

His value as a ruck needs to be factored. Behind guys like Howlett? No way

Just on this though. In the case of a team like ourselves, we've got Hocking and Colyer, both of decent importance to us. We'd apparently get no compensation or top up replacement player. As a team that finished low on the ladder last year and struggled for depth, is that a problem?

I guess the counter argument to what I just said is that we got a couple extra players at the end of the rookie draft, not that they're particularly helpful in this scenario considering they're not really starters whereas Colyer and Hocking could be.

Just something to think about and maybe discuss, idk. That's basically just what came to mind reading the quoted post.

I'm applying for a compensation pick.

Firstly, I deserve one since a grossly unfair trade was passed. Dustin Martin for Shaun Grigg wouldn't pass Zorko for Griffen shouldn't either since the disparity is very similar. In terms of a fair competition this can't be allowed to be put down as bad luck.

Secondly, Dyson Heppell will play again. This ban is likely to end the career of Jobe Watson, who I effectively gave up Jamie Elliott, Nathan Hrovat and pick 26 for.
Shaun McKernan IS worth pick 12 now so I should actually have Stefan Martin on my list but instead I've got someone worthless.

wasnt there always a risk of this. I sold watson cheap because everyone kept on saying how this could happen. He was looking on fire in the preseason and would have easily have gone 100+ i reckon he would have gone 105-110.

I actually posted yesterday in chat that i regretted letting him go

So it's just bad luck that I've lost the 4th best forward (Zorko), Jamie Elliott, Nathan Hrovat and pick 26 and recieved a 29 year old mid who averages 90? If NDT lost that much they'd surely get another priority pick.

There was always the risk of Bellchambers getting rubbed out but everyone ignored it and all I heard was how McKernanisn't worth pick 12. He's got good JS now and if a 25 year old, 80 average ruck isn't worth pick 12 I don't know what is. That trade should have passed, and I should have Stefan Martin on my books.

If you think Luke Breust, Jack Steele and pick 26 for nothing is good for the comp then I'll shh but that's ccomparable to what I've given up, on top of a trade comparable to Dusty for Grigg.

to be fair i thought it was unfair at the time but the rest of the comp didnt.

I also felt that 12 was worth mckernan so you just got really unlucky.

incidently enough though reminds me of the folua for 30 deal, then folou retired the day after.

it just shows that we should have taken the essendon thing more seriously.

DazBurg

soooo next question if the top up players are players from former WXV teams?

usually when a player comes back in from redraft the original team has a chance to redraft

to be fair though MM no one forced you to trade zorko that was your choice

Hmm. Valid points.

That list I put up was where I was pretty much looking up averages from last year.

I'm still umming and arring about Hurley v Heppell, I think I went Heppell in the end because Moscow also lose Hooker.

@Nige, that is also a good point you raise about losing those two lesser players. I did notice Colyer did play for you a fair bit last year.

I just want to see how the next few days play out in the AFL before we go and do something, but I'll be striving for a fair mini-draft order.

@meow, yeah you have been on the receiving end of a series of unfortunate trades  :( but ultimately, there is always risk associated with a trade. I mean, you could trade in 3 guys then all of them get an LTI. I personally had my doubts that Griffen would get DEF status myself, I even mentioned that to Adamant when he offered him to me. I also disagree that if it a weaker club that did those trades, then they would get a compensation pick purely because of those trades; it would depend on how they'll do during the season; where you are still strongly positioned in.
