I do agree it might look like it makes NDT's quest up the ladder seem harder, but first I'd like to point out that they're not as bad as they have been, and that they also have Picks 1 and 2 at their disposal, which in the past has been used to acquire people like Alex Rance and Michael Barlow, so they are avenues to instantly improve.

The other bottom team this year was Cairo, and really they were just injury hit. The next bottom team was Rio, but they were the 6th highest scoring team this year.

You can also think of it this way; Buenos Aires becomes harder to beat, but Toronto becomes easier to beat as well. The challenge ahead for New Delhi really hasn't changed. Even look at Pacific last year, they got the spoon, only to then make finals the year after.

I think the re draft will just create two mediocre teams. It worked last year because the Pumas were such a good side.

To be fair, we didn't have much of a choice other than to rebuild. It is not like we flowered the team up, can't dispute any of our trades besides Swan one. No one was going to pay for those old guys and we did what we had to. People were also saying that they don't see us being competitive anytime soon because we don't have enough trade chips.

On averages, potentially

Team 1:

D: Jamie MacMillan, Tyson Goldsack, Lachlan Henderson, Daniel Merrett
M: Scott Pendlebury, Andrew Swallow, Taylor Adams, Jack Ziebell
R: Tom Hickey
F: Matthew Pavlich, Aaron Hall, Cameron Pedersen, Kane Mitchell
I: Richard Douglas, Jack Crisp

Team 2:

D: Ryan Griffen, Easton Wood, James Kelly, Troy Chaplin
M: Mitch Wallis, Ben Cunnington, Isaac Smith, Mitch Robinson
R: Paddy Ryder
F: Jay Schulz, Lindsay Thomas, Robin Nahas, Jake Melksham
I: Nicholas Graham, Bradley Hill

Then there is players like Brayshaw, De Goey, Ah Chee, Lennon, Turner, Lemmens, Ellis...

Yes.

Maybe KB and GL can co-coach too?

No offense to Zander - just suggesting it as they have both been around here much longer and know each other. Could work

Purps - So this is final - the Dildos are getting merged for sure? No vote?

I kinda thought (perhaps naively) that people would be keen for this...

I guess I could put a vote out if people wanted that.

kilbluff1985

AK and I don't have that problem - just gotta be in sync  ;D

Yeah fair enough man. Good Luck with your application :)

@ Purps, like I said earlier to me personally it doesn't bother me one bit. I was just raising the fact that some of the lower teams might feel differently and they might care

kilbluff1985

btw team name suggestion or place of the team anyway https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malta

Yeah I'm pretty strongly against a re-draft. Holz, Toga and I had a bottom team not long ago and now will all probably be top 8 sides next year. I really like all the trades the Dildos did last year and with another strong draft they won't be too far away - just have to be patient.

The re-draft will just take away another team that might be able to compete with Dublin in the future imo. For the balance of the comp, I'd rather have a fringe top 8 side (Toronto) and a team at the bottom of the ladder but w/ great potential (Dildos) rather than just two teams in the 10-12 range if a re-draft was done.

Just my two cents :)

Also against the re-draft because of the Buenos Aires rebuild last season. If they hadn't done that then I might be for it but, as others have said they've just abandoned it one season in.

If we do this we set a precedent where teams abandon their team after a bad year and get it re-drafted. Then being popular Worlds coaches they are highly likely to get voted back in to coach one of the new teams if they wanted. I don't like that. To be honest I'm not sure why we did it last year. It has turned out okay because, as someone mentioned before me, of how good Sao Paolo was but, Toronto is maybe only half the team the Pumas were and Buenos Aires is the second worst side in the comp.

This will just create two lower mid table teams - neither likely to push for finals in the near future. They will both eventually rebuild, or go for youth straight away handing their players to the top teams and further expanding the divide between the worst and best teams in the competition.

If Ossie wants in then he can be the Buenos Aires co-coach if Vinny wants or form a partnership to be a co-coach with one of the new guys who wants to coach Toronto.
