Hey guys following the tragic events with Phil Walsh I think it is likely that the Crows/Cats players won't play this weekend

Propose that the average of these players are used for this week

Ringo

Either that OSS or use the scores of Adelaide and Geelong players from next weeks games.

Purple 77

Think I'll take the averages of the players this week, but there's still a chance the players might play I guess.

RaisyDaisy

Let's just approach the round like business as usual, but if the game does in fact not get played, averages are the sensible option

RaisyDaisy

Or, seeing as this is an SC based game, we can just wait and see what SC does regarding this and just copy their decision

I'm not confident a decision will be made before lock-out, but yes, if they announce something before that, go for what SC is doing.

Should clarify - you wouldn't be able to pick a player like Sloane (sorry Dublin), would only be players who were actually named to play to begin with

Thought about starting a new thread for this, but was just thinking about all the trades we did over the pre-season and reflecting on what worked and what didn't

We traded out Blicavs and Arma, and at the time based off their history to date the trades where fair, but damn losing those two has cost us a bucket load of points

Imagine we had Blicavs instead of Pyke in the ruck, and Arma in the mids instead of guys like Grundy, Adcock etc taking up a U spot?

Trading out Treloar I can take, because we got great forward and back cover in return, although the fall of Duffield was something we never saw coming. Hopefully his 93 on the weekend might be a turning point?

Tom Nicholls would have been handy too without Blitz, so we definitely lost out big there from a team performance perspective

It's not all doom and gloom though. Getting in guys like Montagna, Heater, Duncan, JJK and other have seen us take big steps forward, and I reckon if we can get a good run with injuries next year as well as be active in the trade period again New York can be a genuine Top 4 club next year

What about you guys?

thoughts on the Walters bennell deal.

Walters started a little slow 112 99 94 99 74 100 105 for a 98 average in his lat 7. Bennell showed he can score but lots of off field issues.

im happy with Walters personally.

I didn't have many major trades really. Except I guess the JJK+Duff for Treloar deal. Annoyed that JJK is tearing it up, but I'd do the trade again, Treloar has been what I've expected him to be.

My last two trades were crucial however (together):

Out: Wells, McDonough, Tutt, N.Wilson, Pick 81
In: Petrie, J.Lonergan and Cross.

Those two trades have got me out of otherwise tight spots this season.

Easily my most successful trade was trading backstabber Clark for Paparone and X.Ellis. Who would have thought Paparone would end up being the best scorer out of the 3? Certainly not me.

Just did a trade review in the Thunder team thread :)

Ricochet

Ours is in our team thread too. Had a mixed bag,

The Best Trades:

1.  Pick 10(Chris Masten) + Tom Nicholls and Ben Griffiths
for Mitch Duncan and Pick 24

2. Shaun Hampson
    for Tom Bell

3. Koby Stevens
   for Dylan Buckley

The Worst
1. Tom Bell
    for Seb Ross

2. Leigh Montagna and Langford
    for Jack Trengove and N24

Memphistopheles

Hey Purps, just wondering if you have any details on the highest scores so far this season and the lowest. Maybe even a bit of standard deviation style stats.

I'd hazard a guess that while we've produced some pretty big scores we'd also be one of the worst teams in terms of consistency.

Trade review Part II

All of the following trades are tied in together in some way. You could look at them individually or in reality and how they suit my team needs and structure.

Jarryd Roughead (12 @98), Rory Sloane (9 @100), picks 37 & 43 for Dayne Zorko (13 @90), Travis Boak (13 @99), picks 12 & 21 (D.McKenzie)

Pick 56 and Majak Daw for pick 43

Kristian Jaksch, picks 43 & 79 for pick 16 (J.Lever) & 63

Picks 12, 26 & 33 for Tom Scully (12 @88), picks 19 & 41

Picks 63 & 66 for Matt Maguire

Jack Gunston (13 @92) and Travis Boak for Tom Rockliff (7 @77) and Josh Green

Tom Rockliff and James Sicily for Bryce Gibbs (9 @81) and Aaron Sandilands (13 @ 99)

Okay so, the Maguire and Daw trades are a meh and the Jaksch trade is basically KJ for Jake Lever.

On to the big one.

Roughy, Sloane, Gunston for Zorko, Gibbs, Sandi and Scully

Roughy vs Zorko will probably prove to be spot on even due to Roughy's missed games due to his unfortunate situation that I hope he recovers from ASAP. Boak has performed better than Sloane so this would have been a pretty even trade, if the draft picks weren't involved. Take a look at Tom Scully (who I got for pick 12) and this trade has been a big win at this point.

Gunston and Boak for basically Rocky would have been a disaster if I had have kept Tom.
Green ain't much but he's worth more than Sicily. Little win.
Gibbs is a slight improvement over Rocky, but I'd be much better off if I had have kept Boak and Gunston. If I didn't need a ruck.
Sandi has performed as well as the best midfield premos in these trades, and my team would be screwed without him.

You can look at it as I had a long term loss of Gunston for Sandi, but getting Tom Scully in makes up for that so overall I would say it's all even except for the fact that I have a ruck this year, since Wilbur isn't the only ruck that I need. I'd also have to be playing Ryan Lester at U2 if I kept Gunston, but now I can go with Scully at U2 and The Package/Garlett at F4 so there's nothing lost in terms of best XV output.
