flower bit of a change in depth for Beijing this year that's for sure! Still a few spuds that just rack up some points that we might be able to piss off at the end of the season.

24320 up to 29904 will be a good result considering it's the first year players who are mostly responsible for the boost. It's certainly not Gibbs, Minson, Zorko, Gilbert, Clay, Reid or Dawson.

Steele, Lever, McKenzie, McLean, Neal-Bullen, Langford, Andrews and Vandenberg all getting games warms my black heart.

Missing two of our starting mids sure has helped out our cap situation :P

Greenwood's return will probs set us over tho

Hellopplz

Can confirm.

Just shows what happens when you get a couple of players lift on previous seasons. Hanners and Edwards and to a lesser extent Rampe ups your points. Yet to play finals but each year find myself over cap.  Maybe we need a concession for teams not making the 8.  Teams with injuries get advantaged under this points system as well.
Like the system but think it needs some tweaking to remain fair.

Personally prefer a flat cap, but I see that being a point.

How about this - so if you are premier you have a max of 28,000 and a min of 17,000 --> and every position you add 500 to it. But you keep the minimum at 22,000

Finish (After Finals)   Max   Min
1st   28000   17000
2nd   28500   17500
3rd   29000   18000
4th   29500   18500
5th   30000   19000
6th   30500   19500
7th   31000   20000
8th   31500   20500
9th   32000   21000
10th   32500   21500
11th   33000   22000
12th   33500   22000
13th   34000   22000
14th   34500   22000
15th   35000   22000
16th   35500   22000
17th   36000   22000
18th   36500   22000

Is the minimum really needed anymore?? Surely we are past what has happened previously. The minimum cap really does hurt trading for us bottom teams

Buenos Aires proved that it is still important. They'd barely be fielding a team as it is

Maybe refining Oss a little putting into bands rather than individual placings.

1- 4 Max 30,000 Min 19,000
4 - 8 Max 31,000 Min 20,000
8 - 12 Max 32,000 Min 21,000
12 - 16 Max 33,000 Min 22,000
16 - 18 Max 34,000 Min 22,000

No surprises here but i'm very very strongly against this.

Don't punish success. What is this communist Russia?

basically its a massive massive advantage to build a young list miss the 8, load up as the teams who competed are forced to cull their players and than just take the flag.

I don't see any evidence that the cap has had any positives on the comp but i can bring up quite a few negatives. Forced equalization methods like this aren't the way to go. Make sure the bottom teams have good support and lead by good coaches and than giving them advantages in the drafts is the way to go.

the euro might not be well run but its a very very even comp and its not because we only have 14 teams. The free market will always beat a heavily regulated one. Also if you want equalization adding two more teams is the last thing you want to do.

1. scrap the cap
2. tighten the trades with the weaker squads
3. more priority picks for those that need it
4. keep teams to 18
5. have less of a punishment for OOP rucks
6. have less of a punishment for OOP players in general for weaker teams.

essentially less focus on bringing the top down and more focus on bringing the bottom up. that's the way to do things. From both a worlds perspective but more important an economics lesson.

I think Buenos Aries prove that caps hurt them. The max hurt them build up depth when they were at the top and also made it tough to trade older players this year to teams as only top teams wanted them and they were over the cap so they werent able to trade their old guys for youth. Secondly the minimum was restrictive on them with good trades for their future being blocked because of it.
